I think this cough is a virus, and yes much improved but still coughing if its cold, after 6 months now. Its become just another part of life.

My best wishes to everybody out there with an ongoing cough or other health problem, it can get you down.

Have you tried cutting out dairy foods and all mucus forming food, viruses live and incubate in those substances. Altering ones diet makes a big difference to lifestyle, it sure did for my health.

I would advise getting an annual influenza vaccine plus the 5-year pneumonia vaccine. These are diseases that can kill you when your immune system has been compromised by other disorders. I haven't had the flu since Fluvax became available, and that could be 20 years or so.

The ENT Specialist I went to last month advised me to lift the head of the bed up by 6", however that is not a safe option on polished timber floors, so I keep using the wedge under my pillow and using a vaporiser that he recommended along with the reflux medication and sitting up straight (Blimey I can hear my mother 'straighten your back!") After having done this for several weeks I am happy to report that there has been considerable improvement though not a total clearing of the cough. Go back to see him on 7 April.

Havent eaten dairy for 20 years Native pepper, or most other animal foods, and yes its made a great improvement. No more (or at least very few) sinus headaches nowadays

Gerty someone told me the other day that she went gluten free (or actually wheat free I think) and her dry cough and irritating skin itch disappeared. Do we try that? I'm still coughing too. But it makes me drink more water so that must be good for me?smile

Tried it Ruth. Tummy bloating/upsets disappeared without wheat, but cough remained. I've found white bread has less unwelcome effects than the "good" wholemeal bread, so I still have that and enjoy it...
Its difficult when travelling to get uncommon foods like gluten-free bread etc, and not worth the trouble in my case.
