Just finished the 5 photo books for each of my daughters. Should receive them all during the coming week so hopefully the results will be what I hope they will be. Has anyone else done photobooks?
Job well done Nelly. I am still dithering about our books (of our travels). Will start doing something in the New year after the madness dies down. Did you do them through sNapfish?
Yes I did do it through Snap Fish which I have used for photos and other photo books. I actually received a couple of them by mail yesterday and I am happy with the result. I doubled up on a couple of photos but really not a problem. The only thing is that it takes me a fair while to do them but the end result is worth it. I think if you already have the photos on your computer it would be quicker but I had to go through a lot of old photos, scan them and then download to the Snap Fish site.
Last year I started to do one of our trip to Tassie ,got about 5 pages done and picked a cover photo then the computer crashed. Now we have a laptop and IPad but just need to download photos and start again. We have about 5 trips I would like to do , one being our big half lap trip where I took 3000 photos. How do you pick favourites from that many??
Oh well it will give me something to do next year.
Just a suggestion pambaz - perhaps you could divide your photos into states or even a certain part of a state and e.g. Ayers Rock etc., and go from there. I usually take a few photos of the subject and pick what I think is the best. I know it would be a nightmare trying to cope with 3000 photos - but it is just a suggestion. The book size I used came with 20 pages but you can go up to 150 pages so you can add as many as you want after the initial 20. Food for thought.
I thought of that Nelly, it's probably the only way to do it. I will start downloading the photos after Christmas and then sort them into pages. That will take some time and it's a good job to do on those hot days in January in the air conditioned house. One trip at a time.
Good luck with the photos - you must let me know how you get on. Have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy and healthy New Year - with lots of travelling.
I have done 5 photobooks of our travels - one for each of our major trips to parts of Oz since 2007. They are special personal reminders of our 'adventures' and are great to show interested visitors (without boring them to death with heaps of photos or long slideshows on the computer or TV!). I have used Officeworks "Photobooks" software and found the whole process very easy to use. You have to download the editing software from Officeworks' website to your computer, then use this to compile your photobook on your computer (at your leisure) and then send your finished photobook file electronically to Officeworks for printing. The printed photobook is usually back at the local Officeworks store within a week or, alternatively, it can be mailed to you. They are fun to create and let you relive the trip all over again, and again!
What a good idea. I take lots of photos, I enjoy looking at them on my computer and I often email some to family and friends, but Richard misses out. If I did photo books he could browse the selected photos too rather than looking through the whole lot which he does not have the patience to do.
I received the books well and truly on time for Christmas - their turn around time is great. The girls were pleased with the end result as I was - mission accomplished. I am going to make one for hubby for his birthday in February and then give one of these to the girls for their birthdays throughout the year.
I have done dozens of books, with a variety of companies. I started with Snapfish but there are great deals around with PhotobooksRus, Mini Box, Harvey Norman, Big W, Simple Prints, etc. There are flasher producers like Creative Memories and Blurb.
My 5 & 7 year old grandsons have just done A 4 size spiral bound Books They took the photos and wrote the text, which I re typed in legible writing and more standard spelling! Their handwritten text and my typing are on all pages. They are hooked on it - and have turned a writing task, which both hate, into something they are excited about. And there aren't many 5 nd 7 year olds who are published authors so they are very proud of themselves.
On my trip in 2012, I did a blog and when I got home, signed up with Blurb. The whole blog was 'slurped' up and all I had to do was edit it and decide on size and format. I ended up with a12 x12 inch coffee table book, silk style pages, and a dust jacket - very impressive, though expensive but definitely worth it.
If anyone would like to see the finished result, it is available as an ebook, which you can download free. I will put the link as a separate message (old age! Have forgotten the address. you don't have to stop at simple
