Had an interesting day arriving at Wilks Park late afternoon. Did lots in Shepparton, caught up with Richard to give him back his camper chair, renewed the Telstra prepaid internet connection. It was a year ago when I took it first after having several days without access whilst in Tassie. Also got the gas bottle refilled at Rays Outdoor. Then off to Albury to buy the 2 @ 150AH batteries, huge they are but after some demolishing work under the bench they were installed.

The plan is tomorrow to connect the fridge freezer to the crank batteries whilst travelling allowing the new batteries to get a good charge up before connecting the unit when at Gooloogong. Be very interesting to see how that all works. Have been looking at small microwaves, the least powerful claims to be 700 watts but that is output and the input is 1150 watts my current inverter is 300 watts and my genny is 1000KVA. With the new batteries and fridge freezer I am wanting to stock up on frozen meals and of course ice creams.

Wilks Park is a good place for camping with lots of flat grassy areas both sunny and shade. Clean amenities with water and flushing toilets as well as barbeque facilities. Short walk into town but I was looking for a camp site in view of the Olympic Way as suggested in Camps 6 and missed it fortunately Rod had his GPS working and found it for us. Was a big day's driving after we had been parked for so long but tomorrow will be without hassles and a shorter trip. John

Certainly sounds like a very full day, but set up for a couple of days at Wilks will be good.

I see by the sign you photographed the 'restrictions' certainly have been introduced. There were absolutely no restrictions when I stayed there last year. That would have to be the most extensive list of restrictions I have seen - far more than any van park would put in place even.

Another good site ruined or 'restricted' due to the selfishness of others. At least 72 hours isn't too bad.

150Ah batteries would be heavy mate but hopefully they will last a while and give you more use.
I think that those so called restrictions are good and will help the travelling public retain somewhere to stop.
72 hours is very generous, lot longer than most and the restriction of a number is also good as well as the space between vehicles to stop the person parking under your awning.
I feel that the self contained option will soon become the norm and any that insist on dumping their grey water etc where ever they are will be in the past. This may be hard for the vehicles not already setup but all new vehicles should be required to be self contained by default.
I am at Forbes at the moment and many people are letting their grey water go onto the ground and we are alongside their weir which is contained except for in times of flood.
Great little site, Dump point and a short walk to town with all the shops you need. People here waiting to move to Parkes for the Elvis festival.

Glad you got those batteries John - they should do the job well. Why do you want a microwave - you gave one away when you got the Coaster? If it is to thaw things - if you pack meats etc in one person serves in the freezer, doesn't take long at all to thaw, we do two person sizes, and have no problems.

Wilks Park sounds like a place we will head to on our next stage, sometime next week. In Seymour at the moment, leave Friday to head to Avalon airport for my weekend away. Billeeeeeee is going down to Tullamarine airport tomorrow with my friend, he will then know why I chose to fly out of Avalon!!

Spoke to Richard the other night - he sounds optimistic about things - hope to see him on the road.

Enjoy the festival - should be a blast!! Get those hips swivelling, and the sneer on your lip!!!!

I want the microwave to heat up frozen meals that I can store in my new freezer, getting over cooking and washing up. Never did like it and should be able to do as I please. So no neat portions all frozen needing various other ingredients to make a meal in several cooking utensils that need washing up. Still will use the camp oven and pressure cooker now and again. John
