Gooloogong NSW

Had just an overnighter at Wilks Park had to move on to get closer to Parkes for the Elvis Festival so we set off early enough to get power at Gooloogong Camps6 #504. A much easier day than yesterday, Rod plugged in his GPS and it took him via Cowra but I wanted to see Grenfell so I took a different route.

The site at Gooloogong is small with room for 8 vans to get power and room for a few others without. It is a caravan park with an honesty box system, there are flushing toilets, water, hot showers, dump spot and barbeques. It is located opposite the pub and a couple of shops, the pub serves meals and we had pizzas.

Just got settled in and we had visitors, Ross and Sue who we had spent time with at Greens arrived and got one of the last powered sites so we had happy hour again with good company.

Sue and I went across for the pizzas and I have never waited so long to get pizzas but Sue put the wait to good effect by winning the cost of the meal on the dreaded pokeys. So we all had a free meal and ate it outside Sue's van underneath the awning, extending happy hour till after 9pm. Another excellent day on the road.

Sounds like a good night was had by all!!! - Hope the pizzas were worth the wait. Thanks for the photos of these spots John - good to see what they look like. Take care. Say g'day to the others for us, if you see them.

Have heard really good things about this park John. Nice to see pics of it and one day I am sure I will happen across it also.

Have stayed there quite often. They have updated it over the years. Only originally had 4 power points and no parking plan. Amazing that they actively encourage travellers yet other places put up their 'no camping' signs.

A town with foresight and consideration - and that knows if they look after us, we will spend our money in their town. Pity more towns don't think this way.

Good morning John & Rod, the pub meal is good also at Gooloogong. I went to pub ordered my meal & sitting there on my own, the cook came over to me & asked if I was on my own, I said yes, she said the two couples wanted my company at their table, I joined them & had a nice night.  Love the Fan guys, put it on while Millee is in the van in the day time, & yes its cooler happy hapy happy little vegemite. Patty.

Yes it is a good camping ground, certainly worth more than the one night that I stayed there.

The pub has different menus for different nights I was there on Tuesday and it was pizza night.

I have now received my fan and been routing the wiring ready for the connection but have not needed it, it is cool here and rainy with no need for cooling breezes from the fan.

Rod Sue and Ross are still at Gooloogong and we will meet up again Sunday night at Mendooran.

Nothing to report about the Elvis Festival, rainy still but hope to get to Cooke Park later.  John
