Arrived back at the Gold Coast some 4 months after I set off to Greens Lake and it hadn't changed much, still the traffic snarls and traffic signals had almost forgotten about red lights. Time to catch up with friends and go to a huge shopping centre with all the shops that have been hard to find for the last few months.
It was easy to find a Telstra Shop that wasn't a Foxtell Shop in disguise and buy a wifi hand held unit that works the phone and lap top without needing to plug it in. So here I am in Stott's Island Nature Reserve once again, there has been a thread recently about the possibility of the Tweed Council closing it down but fortunately that hasn't happened yet.
I have been thinking that it is a long time since I was camping without a fellow Grey Nomad camped nearby, it was last October when on the way to Greens. So much for being a solo nomad. The immediate future will see Billeeee and Jules arrive here tomorrow after their stopover in Nimbin and I am waiting to hear the results from the company working on my fridge freezer.
Friday and my visitors have arrived for an overnight stopover on their way to Boonah, great to catch up again. Been having problems with the phone not taking text messages telling me that the message bank was full even after I had emptied all the messages. I had recently uploaded whatsapp a free messaging service after Steven from Germany recommended it to me then after uninstalling it my problem was solved.
Gave Everkool a ring to see how the fridge freezer was progressing, no joy yet they had only tested it and found that it didn't recycle. Hopefully there will be a more positive answer on Monday but they have no parts for it so if it needs them I will be in trouble. Second night here tonight so I will leave tomorrow and return in the afternoon for another couple. Off to Aldi to check out the levelling ramps advertised on sale today Saturday for around $20. John
John - re closing Stotts Island to camping - the people who removed a bollard, and drove their car onto the grass to camp, will be one of the reasons for closure - have been going there for a long time, and it is always packed - would be a great pity to see it closed.
Hope you got the levelling blocks - none in Beaudesert Aldi.

Yes Jules, what with the daylight saving I was there early and bought 2. A good deal I think and they are rated up to 5 tonne per axle.
No protection if run past top level could splinter so I'd better be careful John
Mrs Dragon Fly and my self drove to Stotts Island reserve yesterday to try and catch up with you and meet you
I read all of your posts from the first day that you started travelling, unfortunately you were not there. So we will try and catch up at another time.

Sorry about that but have to leave and come back with the 24 hours limit, send me a pm next time and I will meet you for sure. John
Progress on Monday apparently the fridge freezer is working and cycling so there is little that can be done, it hasn't got a powerful motor and will struggle in the higher temperatures. I asked for a check on the gas levels but it has a sealed system and it would cost $80 to cut into and reseal the unit. Oh well I will pick it up on Thursday when I leave the Coast put an ice block in it to start off and see how it goes.
There were a couple of rust spots on the coaster and I had been concerned about getting them fixed so I contacted a panel beater who also specialized rust removal. His quote was acceptable and he allowed me to sleep in the van overnight in his locked yard, So here I am getting ready to set off on my adventures again with the freezer working and the rust removed.
The immediate plan is to visit a friend in Zillmere then set off for the free camp in Beerwah overnight and collect the freezer Thursday morning. I am meeting Denise my friend from Tasmania who has since sold her home and bought a Coaster and is camped near Gympie on a friends property whilst her joeys grow old enough to be released. She is a wild life carer and can rear a baby kangaroo from an eye dropper.
