Kalgoorlie Caravan Park - The Prospector

Hi there Travelers

If you coming into Kalgoorlie there's 3 caravan parks however, I can't comment on the other two but The Prospector (where we are ) is nice ,big and spacious with no overcrowding  but I think there's a reason for that.

There's no front face or gate so thieves can walk right in and steal your stuff. This could explain why its so empty.

We have had our IPOD and binoculars stolen in the first week and apparently its a very common occurrence to have stuff stolen here say other guests who live here permanently.

The manager warned us against our  food being stolen from the camp kitchen fridge and told us not to leave our bikes out at night ( where else can they go )!!!

Anyway , these thieves are brazen - they stole someones fridge from outside their caravan and they jump in the pool for swim while their here

On the upside - its $31.00 per night with power and has a lovely pool and the people are nice  also its close to the Super Pit and 3 ks from the city center

So if your coming chain everything up

and have happy camping. This is our first ever bad experience in a caravan park for thieving - a wake up call really

cheers

jd

Thanks for the heads up Julie, will keep that one in mind.

The Kookaburra at Busselton has no fence either and is used by the locals as a thoroughfare and bike path, cheap and best location in Busselton but you need to lock or chain everything up.   Possums pee on your van and tug too sometimes, and ants fall off the Peppermint trees onto your van when it is windy....

We were offered work at this park, Front Desk for me, Maintenance for him.  When we arrived, they had not got permission for us to start, but they did start me on cleaning - worked for 10 days before I got advice that I would not be doing front desk, and no work for him.  No privileges with site fees either.  We left disgruntled.  They even short paid me for one day when the water went off and we could not finish the cleaning in the "'prescribed' timed according to RMS"  No. I wont be going back there.

We had friends staying in the Top Tourist at Bolder - they said it was a nicer park - they had checked out prospector first.
