When Nomads are not Nomads :(

As mostly i stay in free camping area's and bush camps. At present in a show grounds in the Flinders ranges  due to needing power for my air/con at present till tomorrow, in 5 months being here not 1 Nomad has ever gone around asking other Nomads if they need anything in town, like Port Augusta 65 km's away or Port Pirie 67 km's away?

Unless i am strange in free areas or a bush  camp i tell people i am going into town shooping and mostly there ok for food and other items, almost everyday in the bush camps a person comes around asking if i need anything in town? These are the real Nomads unlike the vans and motor homes that come into this show grounds are just for there selfs?

Also in free areas and bush camps other people keep a eyes on your van when you go away shooping once every fortnight on pension day and be away for up to 5 hrs.

Isn't that asking other people if they need like a fresh loaf of bread,  milk, maybe butter there forgot to get and maybe a few other items?

Its a 68 km round trip into town from where i bush camp n/e of Whyalla by the Spencer gulf.

Also here in the show grounds no one meets at 4 pm for happy hour over a stubbie or two, they just keep to there self's.

Hey give me the bush camps anytime, a far better quality of true Nomads there, also info from each other on other great spots to stay and good or bad reports on caravan parks, and outrages prices for a nights stay as Nomds can cost a lot of bad Caravan parks to loose a lot of money from info from other Nomads.

Hi Graham ..

While I agree with you on many principles here, you have presented your own opinions ..

Each of us has our own reasons for our opinions and they can differ greatly ..

I doubt that I'm as trusting as you .. I would first have to know them quite well and be quite sure my "property" is safe under their control .. who knows, they might get an urgent family call and need to depart the area before you return .. maybe ask their friends then to watch your stuff for them .. interesting scenario .. but it can happen

Real Nomads come in all types, shapes, sizes and attitudes .. I have many friends on here that are unable to get away very often, but retain an amazing affinity with the rest of us through their continued direct contact when we travel around .. a lot may not be seen in the main forum as it's done through private messaging and phone calls etc ..

Bush camping is my preferred option too, but I take people as I find them .. not all turn out to be as I would want them to be, but that doesn't make it their problem .. it's mine .. so I need to make my own decisions accordingly.

Happy Hour can be fun .. I've nothing against it but it's not in my make-up to schedule it as a standing protocol for each evening .. many feel the same as me too and often prefer a closed group occasionally at the days end .. and a stubbie or two is nice if you're a drinking person ..

Basically, my opinion is that Nomads come from all walks of life .. whatever constitutes " .. a better quality of true nomads" however, is a matter of ones own opinion and how they see it ..

Now .. we have both provided our own opinions .. others will have theirs !

Thanks Jonathan, i ment not all i have happy hour with, but mostly over a camp fire in winter either before evening meal or after. Mostly in the bush camp where i stay there be anything from 2 to 6 other campers there, ive had no problems in 8 years being on the road at all.

Also visa versa they go into town for shopping i keep a eye on the van and maybe 2 solar panels out to charge the batteries or a generator going to recharge the batteries as well.

Also i love using my solar shower seems different to a normal shower that you just turn the taps on being so easy.

Was lloking into a portable bath tug from china, umm fill it up with hot water from the camp fire, put bubble bath in it holding a stubby at the same time, but gave that a miss ar it was rubber blow up and my luch i puncher it on the 1 st time no

Maybe a sm kids pool be the go maybe ?
