Dont you just love learning the hard way?????

confuseconfusenonoconfuse

Well this city slicker kid has just learnt another very valuable bush lesson. Whilst parked up here in another idyllic spot, it has rained over the past couple of days on and off, no probs, plenty of book work and reading to catch up on. Watched the gum trees and they are all safe and sound, no worries there.

Nowwww the big lesson learnt-------I had no idea that they produced a stain that leaches from the trees and well Miss Daisy is now a right old mess. I have managed to clean off the brown and black streaks from her so far up but I despair on what her roof must look like. So another reason why not to park under or near the gum trees. furiousfurious

Now I will really have to look for a truck detailer to clean her up properly and to get the roof done. I really have to admit defeat and have somebody else do this for me.

Just gotta love this wonderful life and the never ending learning curve. Have never had to worry about this sort of thing parked in a garage full time. laughing.gif

Hi,

Many years ago now, we decided to leave the Motorhome and go off in the 4x4 to Mon Repos Turtle sanctuary at Bargara in Qld.

Took the tent and camped under a shrub for the shade in a CP.

Big mistake, but we didn't know until we next tried to set up the tent. There were minute spots of sap all over the tent and we hadn't noticed when we packed it away. I don't know what shrub it was but the sap would have been the best glue ever.

No way could we unwrap the folded up tent, and despite soaking it in the wash tub for three days it was a write off.

Beware the Aussie trees and shrubs.

Sharon the stains should come out with car polish. As for the roof that might be a bob a job thing for some lanky kids in the next town.

Cheers.

Thanks Cloak for the tip.

I would like to now give a HUGE shout out to Dion the caretaker here at Brucknell Scout Camp. I went up to pay my bill and he asked where I was headed. Told him I did not know, either back to Warrnambool or into Ballarat to get a truck detailer to clean Miss Daisy. He said to me that if I wanted to stay, he would come down and clean the MH for me and I could move out onto the oval part away from the trees and on flatter ground. Can not ask for much more than that.

So that is what I have done. Moved, and we have ran the power from a pumping shed, I am in the clear and yet still surrounded by bush and MD will get a spruce up.

This place is just beautiful, Dion and his wife are doing a great job trying to bring it up to a more modern facility without losing its charm. $10 pn folks in off season. Well worth coming off the beaten track for a stay. Good position to set up camp to explore the Great Ocean Road, and surrounding areas. It is situated 10kms from Timboon, on the Timboon/Nullawarree Road heading towards Warrnambool.

I am smiling, MD is excited, and all is right with my world.

Remember that if you go to the SW of WA and park under a Tuart tree. You will never get rid of the stain.

I'll think of your experience, Shekon, each time I see cows lazing under trees during the heat of the day. Nice story with a happy ending, and a good tip about that camping area.

I parked under a tree with purple flowers in Melbourne - then it rained and I had nasty stains that took a mild cutting polish and wax to remove from the ute.
