Hi your photos are worth a million words, you sound like lovable fun characters, keep it up it does us all good to see such happy people out there.  Keep those smiles happening they are the nicest thing we can wear.  If I knew how to put my photo on here I would, as I think its nice to be able to place the face with words.   Happy travels to you both....Kisha.

Me too. I'm over it. I'm bored off my butt, and I can't do the jobs I want to do while I'm home. I'll stop whinging now.

Hi Chris... got a work question for you.
What is the criteria they use to decide when a load is wide enough to need a pilot? Have seen many "Oversize" and "Wide load" signs on trucks, without an escort.
Hope you are feeling better.

Hi Gerty. Anything wider than 3.5 metres needs at least 1 pilot. Then from 4.5 metres requires 2 pilots, more than 5.5 metres add a Police or Warden escort.
Length and height determine other escorts.
These are the basic rules across the country. There are variations to some criteria from state to state.
You would have noticed a decline in oversize since February 10th, but hopefully the industry recovers from now on.
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator had a detrimental effect on all heavy transport and took the pilots down with it.

I am getting better, but a day behind the wheel just catching up with shopping and stuff proved the arm isn't quite what it needs to be to drive a manual. More rehab and exercise needed.

I've been watching the TV series "Outback Truckers", boy do those truckers earn their money, very interesting show and gives you a new respect for their industry and the drivers.   The car crusher one that travels from Alice Springs was a change from the norm too.

Hope the arm gets better soon, no more jumping off high buildings for you ! Better make that tyres, LOL ! wink biggrin

I can leap tall pilot vehicles in a single bound. OUCH!!!
It wasn't the fall that hurt. It was the sudden stop at the bottom. As I fell I thought, "This is gonna hurt when I stop." And I was right.
The outback truckers do it fairly tough to get stores and fuel in and take stock out.
Some of the mine access roads are just as bad, and in the wet season up north they are much, much worse, and if they're bad enough they are closed.
Venturing on to a closed outback road carries a fine big enough to melt your superannuation.
