Excellent quilting and patchwork supplies shop

Today I found a wonderful shop selling quilting fabrics and related items. It is not far from me in outer eastern Melbourne. I have driven past it for years - vaguely noticed it, but assumed such a shop in its rather strange location would not be worth visiting. Now I have red face. Went there today, after checking them out on internet, because I am looking for new quilt materials, and there are not many options out our way. Found a huge range of wonderful fabrics, at very reasonable prices - and they are currently having a sale. I finished up spending over two hours there - quilters heaven!

Not sure if I am allowed to name businesses on here, so if anyone wants details, perhaps send me a pm.

Isn't great to find something like that, especially if you are a crafty person (in the nicest way of course)

On a recent visit to Adelaide I found a button shop in an arcade off Rundle mall.  it was wonderful, so many buttons I didn't know where to look!

I think the lady said they had something like 4000 varieties of button in the shop and the best display of teapot cosies (is that the correct spelling) in their front window! It was a tourist attraction by itself.  It certainly kept me amused for quite some time.

It is great. I have found some really fascinating shops, as we have travelled. There was a shop in Cairns that had a big range of embroidery fabrics and threads - because I do Hardanger (but on 28-36 thread count fabric) it could be really hard to find the right material.
Then there was a bead shop in Broome.
And a quilt fabric shop in Darwin - but they moved to Hobart!

I have found patchwork shops in all sorts of tiny towns and places. I remember a story about a Quilters group in Broome, I wonder if they are still going. I thought it would be too hot for quilts there. Obviously the Darwin shop found it too hot and moved to Tassie! ha ha ha

I live in Sydney so too far to check out your Victorian shop, wendyv.

Wendyv I envy you, just find hardanger too difficult these days.

I  have a friend who knits Trauma teddies for Red Cross and my big talent is putting the features on the faces of the bears she knits.

It doesn't require a lot of ability but I get great satisfaction from doing it, I was recently paid with a dozen farm eggs for my troubles.....what a great world it is!
