Whilst away recently our fridge stopped working on 240v
I thought, no probs switch to gas and change the element when we get home.Nah not that simple
wouldn,t work on gas either(didn,t try 12 v) so it became a cupboard and we crammed our perrishables into our evacool portable for the remainder of the trip
This fridge needs permanent 12 v to operate the rather complicated control circuit board at the top of the fridge which does all the simple things like selecting the enegy source/lighting the fire and controlling the temp. things we used to do with a switch or turn a tap and press the ignitor.
The problem turned out to be a burn,t out diode on this board which had shut the control functions down but left the indicator lights working.
All fixed and working.
So don,t assume anything. these new fangled gadgets are out to get you.
