Yes, make them smaller Marg, I did hear that if you wash them (get them wet) and then put them in a tumble dryer on high that his will make them shrink.
We don't have a dryer at home so would mean going to a Laundromat to do this.
I have tried dunking them in hot water and then hanging them out on the line for a few days but that doesn't seem to make much difference, maybe they have been pre-shrunk and can't shrink anymore...
PS: Trying to avoid doing the sewing bit if possible....

Said I want to shrink my jeans, not my wallet, if there is a simple way to shrink them I will.
They would probably fit Wombat around the waist, I suppose I could always give them to him, but would need to shorten the legs and make another couple of legs from the offcuts...

Thanks JC......never thought of that, the baggy legs would be good for shoplifting as well, and could shove things down the baggy waistline, I just need to think outside the square......
Still trying some shrinking methods, but looking more and more each day like the Salvo's might get them after all.....leaving them on the clothes line for a week of rainy and windy weather, don't think it will make much difference by worth a try....if they don't end up over the fence in the neighbours place...
Way back in the days when the jeans weren't pre washed or shrunk we would buy the right size & then get into the shower with them on & wander round the yard until they dried & shrunk to fit tight.
Used to do the same with my army boots with two pairs of wool socks on, before spit polishing them .... Well actually I would clean off all the nugget & soak them in water overnight & then with the socks on go & mow the grass so that they would fit the feet snugly. (more useless information)
The last pair of jeans that I bought had those terribly fashionable worn spots which soon turned into holes. I sewed patches on the inside. My erratic stitching didn't look out of place either. Though the family thought that it was very funny. (even more useless information)

Good idea about the shower Cupie (hot one I assume) they have shrunk a bit by washing in hot water and hanging out, also put them in a tumble dryer at a laundry after wetting in hot water. I think they have just about shrunk as much as they are going to.
Might just become a member of the "Y" generation like JC has put up
I find a dark wardrobe works well for shrinking jeans and all other clothing. The longer they're in the wardrobe the more they shrink. Hell, it even shrinks leather belts. Ozjohn.

Dunno about shrinking them, but how do you hold them up? These days my belly is a bit bigger than my ummm ??? oh yeah.. buttocks. I'm forever hitching up my strides at work all day. When I work on something where my hands are above my head, I have to stop every 5 mins to hitch up the duds or I cop all sorts of garbage from the young blokes.... And No, I'm not a plumber...
Good points, I am the same need something to hold them up, use braces sometimes otherwise have to be careful they don't drop down, not that I have too much which would excite anyone if it was exposed..
If you wear your Shirts over your Jeans, [or other Pants/Slacks] why not do what we women usually do. Either sew Elastic to the inside of the waist-band, or take it in with Darts. Your Wife will understand the latter.
Thanks Sheba....yep, I knew what darts are, they are those dark looks SWMBO shoots at me when she's mad at me
Not so much the waist (although a little big) more the legs & bum baggy etc.....might have to do what someone else said and donate them to the salvos......don't think SWMBO is keen on taking things in these days (arthritis etc)....
