This is a great place to stop. Been here 3 days, lots of birdlife and a nice river to walk along. Not a lot of water in there at the moment but considering there a crocs in there somewhere best not to dip the toe.
Good toilets and dump point.
Council boys come out every day to clean out toilets, strong hose. They also empty the bins which abound around the area.
The causeway coming in looks a bit treacherous but ok as up to 50 campers of all sizes come in here every day.
Mary's Pool does get busy, so best get there early in the arvo, good to hear you guys are enjoying your trip.
They are so busy due to people stopping longer than the signed limits.
Unfortunately it is a growing problem. If people keep abusing these rest areas by over staying, the sites will become day use only (ie. no camping allowed) or be closed altogether.

and that makes it bad for all of us that do the right thing.
I went in there years ago and drove over the causeway, a lot of cattle were wandering among the caravans etc and lots of cow dung (not sure I think it might have been fenced off since then) but the flies were terrible so we decided not to stay there.
When the causeway at Mary Pool becomes dangerous it will be closed. No money will be allocated to repair it.
You are right; some people abuse the limit but what do they do; Broome is quite pricey; W A govt are about as bright as
other govt's in Australia; they don't realise the baby boomers are going to increase the travelling public for at least another 30years.
More camp spots are needed so we don't over stress the ones we have. There wouldn't be enough caravan parks to accommodate the thousands of vans on the
roads anyway so we need more overnighters. My council of Busselton won't allow free camping anywhere ; i wonder how much dough the businesses in Busso miss out on,
because of this regulation.
