Had my first experience in the way of a 15 day holiday in W.A. Flew to Darwin, Motorhomed to Broome and back to Darwin.
The trip was unforgettable and I can't wait to go back and have a real good look.
I traveled with my daughter and 2 of her friends... OMG!! what a generation gap.. lol. I get on with my kids just fine as long as I don't spend too much time in a confined space.
My plan is to get a 4x4 and a slide on camper. I can't see me towing anything hehe. I want to plan my trip well but not overplan, there is alot of great advice here and I thank you all. I get lost alot.. I just don't have any sense of direction, e.g. when we arrived at Broome I separated myself from the kids and moved into an onsite van (for some time-out) I received a map to the park and where my van was so I took off and walked around and around and around, I got lost and went back to the office and asked for directions....So I'm thinking of getting a HEMA Gps Any other advice would be welcome.
Oh by the way, my photo..lol its the best coffee you will get in Darwin
Hi Mezzie, welcome to GN, you will not get lost anywhere in Aust there are too many people out there to help all you need do is ask, do you free camp or caravan park's, all are welcome here.
The road is bitumen all the way, at times it gets a bit narrow when you enter W.A. Its safe :)
We didn't free camp on the way there because we had to be in Broome by a certain date to meet the "Ride for flea" team, that pic i put in my introduction. Alana rode her bike from Tylden, Vic to Broome, W.A, almost 5,000klms, in honour of her little sister who died 7 years ago from Cystic Fibrosis, Flea and my daughter had known each other since they were 9 months old... they had a wish to buy a combie and go to Broome when they were old enough to drive, unfortunately Flea died, we were all devastated.
There plenty of petrol stops, plenty of free camp spots... but the best one was Ngumban Cliff :) wonderful views, its 100klm from Fitzoy Crossing or 500klm from Broome.
Be careful Frangipani, there is the danger of wanting to stop all the time to take in the views :)
