Had another trip around from Babinda, Sid who has a motorhome towing a car offered to take me out for a drive back to Bramston Beach. I had been give precise information about a magic place to park right on the beach and I wanted to investigate.
There are 2 caravan parks in Bramston and the minimum from the council camp ground was $22 pn without power. This other place has no amenities and little in the way of solar opportunities and it is not for towing a caravan into and most of the bigger motorhomes would find it hard to handle.
The biggest vehicle probably would be a coaster and there amongst the trees I saw a couple but it is a beautiful spot and jealously guarded by those there in the know. I won't put up the details in deference to their wishes but anyone with a small enough vehicle can contact me.
After driving round Bramston Beach we took of back to the highway and went on to see Josehine Falls and the Golden Hole both conveniently close together. WikiCamps suggest that overnight camping is allowed at the Golden Hole. I was there last year and took many photos which can be looked art the following link. http://yeoeleven.blogspot.com.au/2013/08/josephine-falls-and-golden-hole.html
Arriving back at lunch time and I had previously packed up ready for the off I said goodbye to my new friends and Paul/Hazel before setting off to explore the camping sites that Kevin had given me last year at Greens Lake. The first one was on the Mulgrave River and can be found by turning off the main north highway just past a red brick house into Moller Road before Gordonvale.
Keep on the road through several cane rail crossings until you arrive ar the Mulgrave River and turn into a single track to the right running by the river. I was chicken to take the bus down the narrow track and walked on to the camp around a km or so. There is plenty of room to turn if you make the drive down. It was a bit muddy in spots but could have made it if I had decided to go.
As you can see it is a great spot to camp but with no amenities and if it rained it could present a problem getting out. Kevin told me of another site just past the first crossing there is a sign to a camp on the left and if you follow that road there is another camp spot next to the creek with toilets and another the other side. There were too many young noisy locals there for me to stop but another day perhaps. John

I am on to you John, you just don't want lots of people these at this camp ha ha ha. Only joking. I am in Shepparton cp near the lake till Thursday then on the boat Fri to Tassie, my sister is lookn forward to seeing me. Had light frost here, put warm water in millee's water because it was frozen. Sunny today. There is a couple here in a large tent, last night I could see the glow of the heater in the tent, how lucky am I. Had my first cuppa, parked up in bed with heater on, millee has gone back under Donna. Have a great day John, all good here.
Most of the NQ locals know of the camping spots along the northern end of Bramston Bch some before the National Park Section and others in the NP. As mentioned very tight in most places before the NP and be AWARE we have seen some very large Scrub Pythons/Carpet Snakes lurking in the scrub so any with small children/dogs "Caution".
There is slightly more space towards the Nthn end along dirt road.
Is it legal to camp down the southern end near the creek? I have a tinny, and would like to do some fishing. Also, the camp down on the Mulgrave look good. Thanks, Bill
my van. if in park and they told you no generators you should ask if power point you can use and pay couple $ for it. what if it was life or death . if me i would be writing to state gov
if me i would not mind if you use a genni for medical reasons . there are some *******s about. we could be all in that predicament one day.
Rocky Creek War Memorial Park Camping Ground is available throughout the year and is classed as a free camp but donations are expected. The council operates this campground for the benefit of travellers and requests a gold coin donation. There is a firm time limit of 72 hours.
A very well maintained Memorial Park, 23km south of Mareeba, or 12km north of Atherton. No generators or open fires permitted. Gardens are being established. Toilet Block is a bit of a hike away from the camping area. There are 2 taps in camping area near the pathway leading to the toilet blocks.
Rocky Creek was the site of the largest military hospital in the Southern Hemisphere - a 3000 bed hospital which treated over 60,000 patients from 1943 to 1945.
Every year on the Sunday closest to VP Day, returned soldiers, their families and descendants gather to remember Victory in the Pacific and to take part in a dedication and unveiling ceremony.
The Tablelands Regional Council is custodian of the crown land and the park is developed and maintained in collaboration with the Rocky Creek War Memorial Park Committee.
Cheers - John

I hope it is better policed than some other rest areas in the general vicinity.

Billeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I just get pi$$ed off when campers stay 9 nights at a camp ground when the sign says
Doing things like that is only going to have one result. The camps will get closed down and we all lose out.
So if that shows a limited knowledge of the grey nomad lifestyle so be it.

So there you have it Paramount Cruiser, the great man Billeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee has spoken. As usual he has nothing constructive to add to any conversation. He obviously believes that by adding a daft photo to his posts he will be forgiven.
I'm completely with your sentiments PC regarding overstaying at camp sites. With the enormous number of RV's now on the road, it's up to everyone to do the right thing even you "weird one".
Billeeeeeeeeeeeeee has a low toleration of anybody who disagrees with him, mainly when he self medicates with the sacred weed. Some constructive comments would be appreciated.

I get a lot of enjoyment from what Billeeeeee put's up, silly? yes, but hey, don't take life too seriously, it's about having fun, as to some of the negativity above I'm guessing it is an flow over from that other forum.

You could say that I get pi$$ed of when all I do is try to let GNs know what life is like for a solo pensioner on the road. I spend hours taking and uploading pics and formulating informative posts to find that some who rarely contribute anything positive count my days in a location and berate me for stopping too long;
It is far too easy not to bother and I am tempted.
Might be better to read my blog if you want to know my progress.
John don't you dare stop posting. You were and continue to be my inspiration for this lifestyle. Each to their own.
As far as Billeeeeeee is concerned, if you have never met him or sat in the sun for an afternoon having a wonderful conversation about life and the universe then you have missed something truly special. He is a very wise man, and adds a little fun to the site at times.
And lets face it if all you have to worry about is something, somebody you may not know has to say then life is pretty darn good.

John don't you dare stop posting. You were and continue to be my inspiration for this lifestyle. Each to their own. Yes - very interesting and informative stuff from Yeoeleven. As far as Billeeeeeee is concerned, if you have never met him or sat in the sun for an afternoon having a wonderful conversation about life and the universe then you have missed something truly special. He is a very wise man, and adds a little fun to the site at times. Like many of us, Billeeeeeee (7e's) has many sides. The fun side is just that - fun. But as Bill12 stated "Billeeeeeeeeeeeeee has a low toleration of anybody who disagrees with him, mainly when he self medicates with the sacred weed." As I have learnt - beware the arrogant Billeeeeeee (7e's). And lets face it if all you have to worry about is something, somebody you may not know has to say then life is pretty darn good.
Gday...
Billeeeeeee (7e's) makes me smile many times ... but unfortunately there are times (not very recently thankfully) when his (typed) tongue has lashed out at people who choose not to share his strongly held views.
We are all different and have the right to be different. We all have opinions and have the right to have different opinions. We are a friendly and informative forum and it must remain so.
So, just because someone poses a comment or opinion that is not supported by others on the forum they should not be castigated - or suffer retaliation.
Let's all settle down and get back to the 'smooth sailing' the forum has been maintaining for a long time now.
cheers - John
