Feel a bit of a Fraud, no longer a Nomad

Not been a Nomad for over 5 years, permanent in a Caravan Park now. But meet a lot of friendly folk who still are.  Retired 7 years ago and after a couple of years on the road headed back to the Daughter and Grandkids in Geraldton WA. Just bought an old Coaster, so maybe the feet are getting itchy again :)

Had a good look around the forum over the last couple of days, lots of great info and you seem like a good bunch of folks. If your ever around this way, drop into the Geraldton Menshed, you'll be made welcome. We have been known to help out with caravaners problems, so don't be shy to ask. A guided tour and a Coffee and Chat are always available.

BTW if your around here at the moment, I hear the Wildflowers inland are better than for several years. Been told the Wreath flowers are a bit scarce, but from memory there were quite few just out of Pindar on the Geraldton - Mt Magnet Road in other good years. Have a look in the bush on the left hand side of the road, just after the last paddock.

Glenhuon (AKA Bill C.)

Welcome Bill, no need to feel a fraud, as long as members have an interest in the lifestyle whether or not they currently have an RV that is what counts. smile

If I may ask a question, are most of the varieties of wildflower out now in that general area (Mullewa downwards) and how long does the display usually last, will September for that area be too late? confuse

Edit:  I have made a thread on Wildflowers in General Bill, would appreciate a comment there from your local knowledge and feedback etc, thanks smile

Welcome Bill,
What Vic41 said ,

The wild flowers sounds wonderful. Wish we could hit the road sooner i would love to take photos of them but might be late by the time we can get on the road.

Getting into September they are probably fading a bit, depends on how much rain we get in over the next few weeks. The Kalbarri road from the highway used to have lots of Kangaroo Paw, Smokebush, Geraldton Wax etc. right into October, but not been up that way for a while. In August '92, (another good year) I did a run up the Murchison. (It was my area looking after the water supply for the Murchison towns from Geraldton, up as far as Wiluna, Sandstone, Kalbarri and down as far as 3 Springs). Took 3 hours of video on a Panasonic camera I had "borrowed" from the office. Unfortunately over the years it has been lost). I had a few panoramas taken from the top of the work van. Everlastings as far as the eye could see. I was heading back to Scotland in September for my one and only visit in 33 years. My family loved the video :). They liked the shots through the windscreen at 110km/hr. Asked who was driving "Me" , who was filming "Me" LOL. Funnily enough, I got the same questions from my engineer and he got the same answers. Reckoned he didn't want to know any more :)

The road from Northampton to Horrocks Beach and all the way through the National Park to Kalbarri is now bitumen all the way, unlike when I first travelled it, was a pretty rough track. Nice drive and there are Caravan parks at Horrocks, Port Gregory and Kalbarri. There's a  convict jail just past Gregory and  the "Pink Ponds" at Gregory where they harvest the Carotein from the Algae. It's about time I did a drive around and see if there's any changes. keep ya posted .

Thank you for the information Glenelg certainly sounds interesting. Shame re the videos.
I thought i was bad being a driver and photographer at the same time lol
Might have to wait until we can hit the road and certainly take the time to enjoy these beautiful sights you're mentioning
