I post this for the interest of those who attend Schoolies for Seniors at Greens Lake each summer.
The attached document is a fairly broad 'consultation' document but has interesting plans for the area, which I think will gain the approval of our mob who "summer" there.
Of particular interest are pages 5, 9-11, and 14 - although the whole document is insightful.
For those who have yet to enjoy the environs of Greens, the photos on page 5 and page 12 will give an indication of how popular the place is.
Thanks John, on a quick initial read it is an interesting document that give san insight into the likely future of this popular location where a large community of GN choose to roost during the summer months..
It will be interesting to see where they go with point 10 on the action list, which refers to defining a specific camping area. The words in the document look as if they recognise the potentially large camping population, and would be likely to cater for them, but it would be disastrous for the GN community if the camping area was too restricted.
Interesting document John. I noticed while there this time last week, new signage at the boat ramp and speed limit signs throughout the area. At least that's a start. I must admit that my eyes opened wider when I tead the bit about "specific camping areas".

One of the things They are trying to do is keep people away from camping at the b "Back" lake, that is there to store water for release when needed, and they want to keep that area as clean as possible. At times over 1,000 campers have been at the "front" lake at any one time - plenty of room without overcrowding.
I, and a few other campers, including GN's, was invited to the initial meeting when this was all talked about - we agreed that a lot of the proposals made sense, and would enhance the surrounds of the lake. Regular campers were thanked for keeping the area clean and tidy. Several draft copies were handed out, and some of the proposals contained therein came from locals, campers, fishermen, the local council, as well as the water authority, who are responsible for the quality of the water in the lake, which is used for irrigation.
Limiting the camping areas, not only keeps the back lake a lot cleaner, but, should there be a fire or the like occur, evacuation would be made easier for the authorities, as most campers would be in a controlled area.
I love Greens - it is a great place - may happy memories of good times in the past, and many more good times to come! Will be back there this summer for sure!

I tried to put up a comment similar to Jules earlier today but after I had finished typing I lost my connection.
You will see the management plan is dated November 2013, Jules went to the meeting at the Corop Town Hall in December 2013 where all this was discussed.
As Jules has said they are trying to stop people camping over at the back lake and straight after that meeting the authorities came out and fenced of the entrances to the back lake as a start of the changes.
They also put marking buoys out in the water to separate the fast water machines from the swimmers to make it safer.
Yes Barrie, I would be happy to pay a fee to stay there and hopefully they would use the money to upgrade the toilets and maybe put in showers. If not I will still pay to stay there.
I agree with HW (Marj) - would most likely still pay a nominal fee to stay there, as long as it was used to upgrade the facilities a bit - not straight away, but sometime in the future - a dump point would be one of the easiest things to get organised, as the toilets are already there. Showers would possibly asking a bit much, but you never know your luck in a big city, do you?? Or a small town!!

Ditto Marj and Jules. It would still be worth it if the monies were used to upgrade and maintain the area. They have to protect the waterways and if this is the best way to do it so be it. Roll on spring.....
