John - I know only too well not to take health for granted - my late husband and I had only left home six months before, when he had a brain bleed and died. That was quite a while ago now, but I now live my life as if there is no tomorrow - have a lovely man in my life, and we go where and when we please, enjoying this great country, meeting great people.
My husband had had two heart attacks previously, so we knew life was precarious, but we had a great six months travelling.

I hope you are much better now John. What a fright!
You are right you never know what is around the corner. After a lovely cruise last November and coming home feeling wonderful. My husband had trouble swallowing, tests done the week before Xmas and the day before Xmas Eve he was delivered the bad news...Oesaphagael cancer which has spread to bones and adrenal glands.. Last six months he has had chemo and now it's just day by day. At the moment everything is stable but not cured.. Will not be and they can only offer palliative care .
We have told people who want to do things like travelling , don't talk about it just do it. You never know. We had three big trips planned for this year and had a small trip to Bundaberg and Lightning Ridge in July and August but had to come home after a month as he was too tired. We are now waiting to see the Drs next month and if he is ok we will do a little trip to the Grampians. Just doing what we can and getting on with life. He has a wonderful positive outlook and the Drs are amazed at how he is going. They agree it's his attitude that has helped a great deal.
So. John look after yourself and enjoy a wonderful life.
