Amazing is right Jon. Yeh, I don't think I'll be around that long either.
An aunty of mine died last year at 88. She was still living in her own home, a high set home at that, and had been as healthy as an ox. Her son came to visit, she came to the door and dropped dead right in front of him. He tried to resuscitate her but she was gone. On one hand, how awful for him, but they were all happy that she went so quickly and seemingly easy.
My maternal grandmother lived to 91 and she led an active and happy life right up until the end. She always loved visitors and dressing up to go to town shopping
My paternal great grandma lived to 98 and still went to the movies 3 times a week until a few weeks before her death.
I'm hoping that I have inherited some of their "long life genes".
But my mother (who always reckoned she was dying from about the age of 50) lived to be 99 although bedridden in a Nursing Home, she was still mentally alert at that age, but her hearing and sight was not good.
