Calliope again

Set off from Paul's place and drove to Calliope, I have been here a couple of times before but I have taken more photos. This is a great free camp on the north side of the river, the first time I camped here the causeway was opened and you could drive across and camp on the south side but now you have to drive on the Dawson Highway over the bridge and turn right on the old road to access the south side.

Sid was already there and I have camped behind him on the grass by the road, looking at only a couple of nights here so haven't set up thoroughly. To find the camp you have to look for the blue rest area signs and drive past the Historical Village and down to the camp.

Yes Vic the crossing is closed due to some prior flooding.

Getting back to a previous post about Boulder Creek and comments about the small friendly camp that it is, 4 couples who met up at B C are travelling south together. They all met at happy hours and became friends and that is a great recommendation to go and camp at Boulder Creek when travelling north or south. They all rocked in here at Calliope this afternoon and it was like old times at B C.

This is off topic but I'm on the phone so am having problems. I would just like to say that Yeoeleven you are a true inspiration. I have been reading your blog for the last 3 days from the start, currently am halfway through 2013. The fact that you have managed to travel around the block with very little hands on experience in an old hiace & carry on with a never give up attitude. The amount of friends you have made & people you have helped along the way is truly a indication of your character. The fact that you have taken the time to write about your time on the road & the info that is posted in your blog is brilliant. I have never met you but you appear to be a true blue person that I is always willing to help those in need. When the time comes for us to hit the road, I only hope I can come close to doing what you have done. P.S if someone can put this in a post in the correct place I would be very appreciativ.

Well what can I say. Thanks for your comments Woolly, I started the blog just after my first forum post about my 12 month plan and it has just kept on keeping on. If it encourages others to get out on the road then that is a good thing.

Now Billeee never tells porkies or stretches the truth but if anyone on this forum knows me well it is him, we met when we first started out and have been best friends since then.

John
