Make sure your here early to get one of the sites. In wildflower season, they were all taken by 1 - 1.30pm.

You're not wrong about getting in early to grab a powered site, deedless,

We have just returned from York and we are both very impressed with this town, in particular the free camp site right in town, I know it's supposed to be for self contained R.V.'s but We would like to see the Shire Council go one step further and install hot showers for the travellers in camper vans or caravans who don't have them.

I for one would not complain if there were hot showers which operated on a coin system, say $2.00 for 4 min's hot water.

Apart from that, we were very impressed with the parking area, two power poles with twin 15 amp power outlets on each, a nice level parking area and water available, ( had to buy tap head to get water though ) a very pleasant stopping spot with grass lawns and a toilet block within easy walking distance ( locked over night but open between 7 am till 7 pm )

We arrived at 10 am and found a string of caravans camping from the previous night, managed to squeeze in though and grab a vacant power point, as others left, yet more vans arrived, it was full to overflowing by 2 pm with late arrivals having to go on to the two caravan parks in town,

The Shire workers made a great show of cleaning the whole area, the rubbish bins were emptied at 7 am, the cleaners of the toilet block arrived at the same time,  then the gardeners arrived along with painters who were working on restoring the Band Stand in the park .

We would give this Town 10 / 10  for being a true R.V. Friendly Town and will be back again for sure.

A couple of pictures of the camp site / rest area.............
