Our Flinders Ranges Trip

Just a few of the (650) pictures I took on our recent trip.

We traveled to Quorn in the mid north of South Australia for 2 nights in the council caravan park. Friendly people but very basic (clean) amenities.

We took a trip to Pt Augusta on the Pichi Richi Railway.

We stayed at Rawnsley Park Station just south of Wilpena Pound for 4 nights. They charge the standard $30 a night for a powered site. But when you consider where you are and how spectacular the place is and they supply ALL (and more) of the usual amenities I felt the charge was very reasonable. The facilities are modern & clean, all types of sites are available as well as cabins, etc. They have a little general store which has just about all you could think of in such a small shop. They have fuel pumps for petrol & diesel. I don't recall seeing LPG (but I would be surprised if it isn't there). Diesel was $1.68/Lt when it is $1.54/Lt in Adelaide, not bad when I was expecting to have to travel back to Hawker (35kms away) for fuel. I would recommend the place if you are traveling in the Flinders.

We stayed in the North Caravan park at Wallaroo for 2 nights on the way home. Probably the best showers I have come across in a C/P. All the usual stuff but I don't think they'd like us on the jumping pillow with walking frames/sticks aww

Sorry photo descriptions are -

Dawn in Quorn (no pun intended), A good place for food in Quorn, Pichi Richi train, Pichi Richi railway, Creek in Rawnsley just meters from our van site, Rawnsley Bluff, A view from the caravan park, Walking in Wilpena Pound, Ccooorrriiigggaaatttiiiooonnnsss, Wilpena Pound at sunset, Barry & the Kendo's, Leaving Rawnsley Park Station

Hi Kendo,

I agree with your assessment of the Flinders Ranges as I have stayed on two visits at Rawnsley Park Station and intend to go back again.

I find the scenery special as your pic's show.

I came across a old historic picture taken at the store in Blinman which you may find interesting if you drove over that way.
