I have seen some m/h's with an electric roll-down bed in the roof - do you think that this would make the m/h top heavy when travelling? especially with an innerspring mattress on it.  confuseconfuseconfuseconfuse

Don't know about top heavy but do know of a friend who had one and hated it ! so impractical, he got rid of the motorhome at less than year old and bought another one almost the same but with a proper island bed.

I think the MH would be designed to handle the set up OK Nelly but I have known a couple of people that have them and had nothing but trouble getting the bed down, always getting it fixed they said, as with banjo, one got rid of the MH.

Just another thing that could go wrong IMO.

We have had a new motor home since April with this type of bed - been traveling for 3 months around Queensland and NSW, and we love the bed - so much more room in the MH when the bed is up.
The bed is king size so there is lots of room in the bed.
I guess it would add some extra weight when driving but I have not noticed a problem with the handling of the MH

Have had one now for 4 years and wouldn't swap it. It can't be any worse weight wise than what some people put on the back of their vans or caravans. I haven't had any stability issues and gives so much more room in the motorhome. The motorhome is designed to carry the weight in that position so I see no problem.

One problem is that when the weather is bad and you can not sit outside all your friends want to come in your MH with the electric bed because there is so much room around the table/living area!!!!!!smile

We are looking at the Avida Ceduna ... It has electric bed also ... So,much wasted space with the normal bed ... Love the idea of  hiding the bed during the day ...

Hi Nelly...the roll down bed is really a great idea, and does not impact on handling at all, esp at the normal everyday motorhome speeds.
I would have one if I could spare the cash....they are usually quite expensive to purchase.
I checked out and "older" Iveco with one, and the owner wanted over $100,000....maybe once I sell the house ??
I can't justify the expense myself...but then, there are plenty of retirees out there with lots of available funds, I guess....lucky people !!

An issue with some rigs with roll down beds is that they come down over the sitting/lounge area. OK if there is just one of you - or if you both always want to go to bed at the same time. Would never do for us because I go fairly early to bed and the Driver sits up till all hours playing computer game.

Looked at the drop down beds and found there is no provision to put your teef, glasses glass a water and what ever else you keep handy... (in some models )

Also a bit high to get into, clear the table and lower it, move cushions to get it lower...work ...!!! who wants it. crawl all over SWMBO for your midnight twinkle...(might get a midnight sparkle or a midnight slappel...)

One mob has side pockets in cupboards so they have come across the problem...
