Hi,Cameron and Victoria from magnetic island. we have a small motor home  on a hilux , we have been traveling since 2008 off and on. We are off to WA via the Nullarbor in April and would like some info on phone reception across. I have a galaxy S5 and am wondering weather I need an out side aerial or not.

Hi Cameron and Victoria ,welcome to the forum, i'm thinking that you would need an ariel but there are other people more qualified than me on this forum who would know for sure.

Cheers.

Welcome to the gang magnetic wanderer, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Noy sure about the Nulla but Telstra usually has the best cover around OZ. I would suggest if you have a patch lead etc go with it as always gives better reception.

Gday Magnetic wanderer and welcome to the forum. We travelled across the Nullabour using a galaxy s4 without an extension aerial and found that we had phone signal at most of the roadside service centres and there are usually plenty of other travellers on the crossing so if you have trouble a phone is not an essential.

A couple of things to do prior to leaving Ceduna, Visit the tourist info office and grab a copy of the booklet that tells you what you can take across the boarder, we stocked up in Ceduna and then had to dump what we couldn't eat on the spot which was a total waste you can take cooked fruit and veg across.
Whilst at the tourist office check wind direction for the period you will be driving and it can save you a considerable amount of fuel with tail wind rather than head wind.
