Holiday route

Hi, does anybody know any interesting routes to take for 1-2 weeks from the Coffs Harbour/Urunga area, taking in different roads, not just up and down the coastal track?

Also would be nice if we could keep company with some other caravanners on such a circuit.

Thank you

Burrawongsmile

Hello Burrawong - why not head inland, out to Armidale, say, and explore some of the inland roads - some great spots to camp up, Dumeresq Dam, near Armidale is good, not sure if it is open again or not. Usually a few camped there - and Texas, another nice little town.

Go over the mountain and explore - free camps are good, you usually meet friendly people in them. Post on the forum here, where you are, others may see it and join you.

Enjoy your couple of weeks holiday.

As Jules suggested, head inland a bit.
We have just done 9 weeks out that way.
Glen Innes is a very pleasant town with lots to see.
We stayed in the showgrounds and day-tripped out from there.
West a bit is Inverell to have a look at the gemfields, local historical museum & car museum.
Tingrha ,south of Inverell has a nice locally owned & run caravan park.
North of Glen Innes is Deepwater. There is a free camp behind the Deepwater Inn on the north end of town.
The Deepwater bakery is top quality & value.
North a bit more is Tenterfield. We were happy with our stay in the showgrounds. The Railway station museum is a must see.
The East-West highways, Bruxner ( Tenterfield-Casino ), Gwyder ( Glen Innes - Grafton ) & Waterfall Way ( Armidale - Coffs ) are all good,scenic routes.
I think I have everything right. Hope it is a help. Sorry, can't join you this time. But we do want to go back that way before too long -- more we want to check out.

Hi Burrawong and good day

Chopit got it one, great spots and then you may find you will need more time to see it all.

From your area coming into Armidale on your right is a great caravan park with ample space.

So much to see and do up on the New England. Check out Uralla a short drive from Armidale also and east of there we found a interesting area called Gostwwyck. Once your seen the church go over the bridge a bit further that would be the one of the biggest shearing sheds to be seen from any road.

Enjoy your experience. Ralph.
