I'm researching add on rear view mirrors. I can't use "Clearview" mirrors on my 2011 PK Ranger; the doors can't handle the additional weight. Clearview have a new product out called "The Convertor". They're remotely adjustable; i.e., they're electrically driven inside the cabin which to me seems like a great idea because one would need go-go gadget arms to reach out and adjust them whilst driving! I bought a set off Super Cheap the year before last and towed a mate's van to Mackay. I didn't get past where the divided highway ends north of Brisbane before a b-double flew past and blew off the driver's side mirrors. SC gave me back my money so I'm open to suggestions as to what's the best add on option. I am going to trial a rear view wi-fi dual camera kit from Jaycar - cheap enough at $199 but not holding my breath given other feedback about interference and other issues with the wi-fi. Cheers
If you do a search on mirrors in the search box you will get enough reading for a day or two.
We used aussie truck mirrors for about 10 years with no issues. When I bought the navara I found that they were marking the door so I went to a set of Milenco grand aero mirrors and I am very happy with them.
last long trip was 11,500km through western QLD and no problems with them being blown back at all.
quick and easy to fit and remove. highly recommended.

Hi Ed.These are my Brunnsgared mirrors. Both the mirrors and the little turnbuckle plus a 15 minute bit of bending up a bracket have been perfect for the last 2 years of travelling without fault.Don,t take my word ,but remember every mirror will annoy you somehow, you just need to customize them to suit yourself .Cheers
After looking at mirrors for my tug decided to go with Milenco as well, 12000 klms trip no problems. My mate bought a set and loves them too except his 2014 Prado has weak hinges on the original mirrors and fold back easily when big trucks pass.
not the fault of the Milenco but the Prado's mirror.
i liked them for the same reason Frank does. They don't mark, easy to put on and of and give good vision, that's been my experience. Best $140 on mirrors I have ever spent. All the other mirrors would have cost triple that if added up over the years.
Milenco get my tick to had Aussie traveller before them masked the webbing straps marked the door and were very noisy and had to kept tighten them up , Had Milenco for 3 years now great mirror

Tell your mate to put a strip of good quality strong 100mph tape along the join where his mirrors fold. This will hold them in place.
Cheers Neil

What I like is that by installing and removing by taking the bracket off the mirror, when I refit them they are already aimed at the right place and I don't have to do any adjustments.

In the RAAF, we had a similar tape to duct tape - but it was green and had a canvas type weave - we used to call it Instant Airframe! Used it for everything and I even saw it used once to cover over a small hole in the leading edge of a Mirage wing so that it could fly back to base for repairs. The tape was still when it got back!
...............what is 100 kmh tape - does it have a trade name, where do you buy it from and what other uses does it have?.................
Available at any Supercheap Auto store
Supposed to be waterproof - I used it as a trim strip around the top of the camper - only lasted about six months, then started de-laminating.
I gave it away and used Tesa 4169 heavy duty vinyl floor lane marking tape - still in place in good condition after 2 years - however the colour has faded a bit. Supplied by Blackwoods industrial suppliers - usually in stock, but smaller branches may have to order in - comes in black, white, silver, red, green, blue, yellow and hazard striped - about three times the price of the cheaper cloth based tape, but worth it.
