Fresh water for van tanks

Hi all,

I think this must be my first post here. I will be traveling up that way in April from Gippsland Lakes on a trip up the Murray and into SA. I would like to stay at Greens for a few days but will need to fill the tanks by then. Can someone please advise what you do for fresh water filling while in the area.

Thanks

Pop into Girgarre on your way to Greens. They have toilets, showers, dump point and fresh drinking water taps.

Welcome to the gang, enjoy here and out in the playground. There is water up at the toilet block that is more than ok for your tanks and if filtered first ok to drink. I have been using those ways all the time with no probs. You will need a four way anti vandal tap key though, avail from the big B place if you don't already have one. Enjoy the lake when you get here and keep safe.

Hi Dougwe, a quick question for you ,i always thought that those taps with the anti vandal device on them was to stop everyone

from taking the water .Am i wrong in surmising this.

The tap in the ladies is an ordinary tap. They don't think females can be Vandals.           smilesmileconfuseevileyedisbelief

Blues Man......There is no problem using the water as they have no key to stop the "Male" vandals. A key was also needed in the ladies up to a few months ago but they fitted a new tap for some reason but not in the mens. Who ever they are confuse  Maybe security had something to do with it confuse hmm

Correct Ken.

ahhh.....security must be female and its blatant sexism and discrimination lol. We have heard so much from Dougwe and Jules about Greens Lake that when we get over there in mid winter this year, we are going to stay, even if we freeze our, umm - toes off.

Hopefully there will be some Nomads there then we can sit round a fire with and share a raspberry cordial with

Unless they have changed the tap in the couple of months it is an anti vandal tap in the female toilets also. Tap over the basin is normal, but to get water to fill a water container you will need the anti vandal device. I stand to be corrected if it has changed.

Sharon, they changed the tap in the ladies to a normal tap, no key needed now. I only am told this of course smile

"Security" should know for sure so people could PM Ted biggrin Just keep clear of his big  vicious security dog wink

They had to change the tap. The vandal proof tap key has four choices - three too many for women (who need to be thinking about other things, no doubt). A single option is enough to cause lengthy consultations. The delay caused by the resultant indecision and discussion of the four options would have resulted in large huddles, possibly blocking access to the gentlemen's conveniences as well.

I don't know why you blokes would want to blow the gaff though. Haven't you learned to unobtrusively and quietly make necessary adjustments for m'lady, then go about your normal business?

Johnq that is funny. You are probably quite correct with the reason of changing the tap. Yes there were four choices, however we know that women can do two things at once, that would be in this case, one trying to get water, two trying to answer the male call from over the wall to questions like:-"honey where is my toothbrush?', "Honey, where is the toilet paper?", so while honey is trying to look after these pressing issues the whole tap thing becomes too much.

I guess the powers that be must have had their own reasons, probably because the staff kept forgetting their anti vandal key. Just a thought.

Thanks for clearing that up Doug also.

Shut the front gate! John, John, John, you really are playing with fire my friend biggrinbiggrin

You mght be tied up, placed in front of said toots and stoned smile

You might need to get "security" and the wonder dog to protect you now. His fees are high though. Unless of course you do a Dazren and whisper in wonder dog's ear. Might get reduced fees then.

Mmmmm, spose this is all still on topic, I will check with KFT confuse

Gee Jaybird, you ask a simple question and all hell breaks loose. It's all KFT's fault you know cos he has this "thing" that makes topic's go "off topic" without even being there smile He learnt off a hairy critter that lives in a hole, many moons back smile

Thanks too for taking it in the spirit intended.  There is so much political correctness around that we are in constant danger of losing our ability to laugh at ourselves.smile

 Ain't that so true johnq.

Dougwe, me thinks you malign poor KFT too much, he had a good teacher as you alluded to (roots and leaf eating animal) but you helped winkwinkwink

Mr. Security is too busy cleaning out the spouting to play on the computer.  Pip, the security wonder dog is busy barking at the dog over the back fence, so as usual it is left to me to do all the paper and IT stuff.

Bruce and Bev, we were at Greens in July last year. Not many about but we had lovely weather. Pretty cold at night, needed a heater. Plenty of bird life about.

You guys make me laugh - in the nicest way about the way you go off topic and only your small gang can possibly understand the posts you put up here - oh, and Im not being nasty - I smile when I read the posts on this thread.

Robyn & Ted, thanks for the comment about what it will be like in winter - we really are looking forward to it. Probably just as well it will be fairly quiet as neither of us smoke (that's subtle - how many get this one??)

Johnq, we have to laugh at ourselves, or there is no point. Golly if I didn't laugh at me, I would have to admit myself to the funny farm. On a serious side though, that is one of the things that is sadly going MIA, a good sense of humour and the ability to take the mickey and know it is only in good fun.

Doug so glad you found yourself back on topic. Just to take it off topic again, I wonder why "they" deemed it necessary to have a four point anti-vandal tap, who would have thought of that. Whoever it was, did a good job, and makes sense if you don't think about it too much.
