take your rubbish with you ........we are currently at Greenlake, it is disappointing to see the amount of discared rubbish that is left here, obviously it is the locals, as there are items like lounge suits, pagolas, table tennis tables, left here for the council to get rid of, this is sad, because of this beautiful places like this will eventually close down. It is not us Grey Nomads, we clean up, the people next to us spent a few hours cleaning up other peoples rubbish, and cleaning toilets, although the council do a good job. it is just the minority of the people who are at fault, but they make it hard for everyone. We have had a wonderful time here, the majority of people here respect others privacy, but as I said it is the idiots that are at fault

Is the lounge suit a tan colour I saw someone drive in with a heap of stuff on the back, they headed over to the left of you guys. Damn I should have taken their number........

It is tan colour. They had a 3 seater and a 2 seater., chucked all the cushions in the skips but left the 3 seater . Up my end they drove a star picket type thing into the ground, in the water as a boat mooring, and left it. It was an accident waiting to happen once the lake fills up again. Luckily a visiting GN managed to get it out.
Had a few chats with locals, and some do resent nomads taking all the prime spots. I guess it's a 2 way street. But no excuse to leave rubbish. I'll be doing a tidy up in the morning of litter.
I saw a ute with a two seater on the back this morning but thought they were heading home with it. I also notice the four big bins are chockers and they aren't due to be emptied until Thursday week so makes it hard for all here until then. There was a blocked toilet in the mens early today as well.
The locals really don't appreciate what they have here. Oh well, things will probably be different later this year so it will be interesting what takes place during the year. Just hope it is still here for all to enjoy.

I live near Flemington, Moonee Valley races, the showgrounds, so I'm use to loud doof doof music, rave parties, fireworks, royal melb. show, displays and exhibitions, drunk people all ages, posh, young and old, seeing people with clothing and shoe dysfunctions, vomits and wees in bushes lol lol.
Not much of this bothers me, the race courses and showgrounds were there before my time, but it really annoys me when they they throw their trash around the streets.
we leave the campsite cleaner then it was when we arrived, I have noticed all the nomads do the same thing. We are now at Echuca, although it is a decent caravan park, we will wake up to looking at another van, not the beautiful lake, if we had not booked here 12 months ago, before discovering Greenlakes, we would still be there. Have fun all
There 12 months ago, and the council left two big skip bins for the rubbish over Easter. No sooner the bins were dropped, and the locals arrived with a trailer fill of rubbish and proceed to fill the bins up with house hold rubish from lounges to refrigerators. I rang the council on the first available business day to advise that the grey nomad / campers, were not the culprits, with a positive response, "We know you guys aren't the problem, it happens all the time, but thanks for letting us know." I didn't take down the number plate, bit slow on the uptake.

Come along on our travels now on Face Book. The Retro Roamers
have just driven up and down half of the Stuart H/W in SA. Pt Augusta to Coober Peedy and back. Im surprised at how little rubbish there is on the side of the road. Other than the roadhouses, there were only two public toilets on this road. This shows you - Pollies can hold it in and still talk it out lol.
It was interesting to see the number of long haul truckies who had to stop in their terrible rest stops and squat behind the bushes - you could see all between their wheels racks as you drove past lol (the BOSS made me slow down to 10kmh whenever she saw a truck in a rest stop haha
There was some toilet paper, but nothing like that in WA where there are a lot more road side toilets. I always say its snowing when we drive past these places as the surrounding countryside is covered in short pieces of white paper hooked up on the scrub

It is hard to believe that camper leave rubbish behind.
But some one is doing it.
We do not need that sort of person to bugger up a good thing that we have going for us.
But they camp amongst us.
