Ban Ban Springs

Whilst on the Gold Coast I was not camping but maintained a record on the blog if anyone is interested   http://yeoeleven.blogspot.com.au/2015/02/whilst-on-gold-coast.html

After waiting for the mail and receiving nothing I set off at mid day and after 6 hours I was at Ban Ban Springs on the Burnet Highway a trip of 396kms. Made easier by taking the Bruce Highway with it's dual section all the way to Gympie with a small exception around Cooroy. Was very impressed with the Wide Bay Highway from the Bruce up to Kenilworth not with the highway its self but the views along the way.

Arrived at Ban Ban too late for photos but will remedy that in the morning, there is a description of the facilities listed in Camps7 #445 and it is locates 28kms south of Gayndah. The majority of the trip to Wuruma has been done with less than 200kms to go it should not take too long to get there. I have passed here enroute to Biggenden a couple of times but never stopped over although have been told about the camp site.

There is plenty of space to camp here with clean flushing toilets and a couple of wide camping bays plus along the service road camping is allowed. 20 hour stopover allowed.

John

Ban Ban looks like a good stopover John - you would have passed us almost - we are at Lawnton Showgrounds, came in yesterday. Billeeeeeee drove the motorhome and trailer, and I came later with the car, having spent time meeting the newest member of the family - Little Will was born yesterday morning, and mum and dad are over the moon.

See you at Wuruma in a couple of weeks.

Hi John, blimey We must have passed each other I stayed at Gayndah (Zohoven Park) Camps#442 on Wednesday. Now at Childers for 11 days to see my new Grandkids. Colleen and I called into Waruma and found it too had too many vans there to be comfortable.
Hope they have left so you can get in. Hope to catch up soon maybe.

Hi Yeoeleven, Where you park up is that near the natural spring which is where those signs are? Also, is the toilet where the signs are? thanks.

I arrived at 6 pm and left at 7am so not sure about the natural springs but the toilet is at the free camp, you can't miss the camp site.

The whole Ban Ban Springs is fairly compact. Don't park in the truck area which is separated by large rocks. The natural springs is forward from the toilet which John shows in his photo. Probably 50 yards, I'm no good with measurments. I have sat with my feet in the spring and watched it bubbling. Wonderful. Looking at that photo again I would think John was standing in front of the natural spring while taking the photo. A few feet past the signs.

The Springs only flow after rains and when the farms around stop Pumping underground water these days.
The pumps across the road can go 24/7 for weeks at a time which STOPS the Natural Spring Flow.
Also there is a Bush Camp area down the dirt road just past the Rest Area (on the left) approx 3-7kms onto the Barambah Ck causeway area.
Not a lot of room but good fishing when full of water.
Cheers Kev.

Hi Guys,

Geez time flies. Didn't realise you were all back in this neck of the woods. Will try to get out to Wuruma in the next week or so. Have a few things to do early this week and need to pick up my tent from daughter so can bring new toy. Haven' tried it out yet. Sold the yacht, so sorting out the new toy one.
