Thermal Cookers

Hello everyone, I am a first time poster and would like your advice/input  on Thermal cookers, I have an Eco Pot which I have used only once and was quite dissapointed with the result, I followed the recipe from the supplied book to a tee and found it most unsatisfactory, I have looked at the Thermos Shuttle cookers which to me seem to be much better, I'm thinking of selling the Eco Pot and putting the money towards the Thermos what are your thoughts on these cookers.

Welcome to the gang Mario, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I have a Webber Baby Q and love it. No heed for anything else. I have been told the Thermal Type Cookers are great though and have tasted yummy food from one as well.

Thanks Dougwe, I agree about the Baby Q, we bought one last year and love it, also used a pressure cooker the last time we travelled, so I think perhaps there is no need for a thermal cooker at all, might just sell the Eco Pot and leave it at that.

we had a thermal pot and seldom used it - found all the stuff was just more space taking and weight. We also stick with the Baby Q and use a separate 9kg gas bottle for it (Im too old to get down on my hands and knees (no....Doug.....calm down lol) and try to plug the gas lead into the one fitted to the underside of the 'van.

The bottle lasts us for weeks - if you follow the instructions about pre-heating for 10 mins and then cook, the weber uses little gas

We have a shuttle chef and use it quite often.

I like to make a hotpot meal in it using steak or even a curried sausages.

I brown the meat first and then add all the other ingredients, bring it to the boil and simmer for 15 minutes then into the thermal cooker for 6 to 8 hours.

Meal is still very hot at the end of that and is always yummy flavours.
