Hi! to everyone we are not far from joining all you nomads on the road we are from Gippsland in Vic. we are trying to decide wether to rent our home out or just lock the door .I would like to know if on age pension getting rent is worth the bother ,if you are not better of financially ,if anyone knows if it is classed as an income or asset also I have been told if we leave our home get rent we are still able to get rent assistance .any advice would be appreciated .

We are not on any pension but have decided to sell the house, less hassels with, rates, good tenants, etc,etc, we did look at renting but have been advised that any income from the rent will effect our tax rate if we were to get jobs on the road and went over the tax free freshold, further advised that if the house was left empty for more tham 6 months the insurance company would not pay out on any claim???? There is always something to get in your way.
Sorry can not give any advise on the age pension, but good luck with what you decide.

I too am not on a Government Pension but a Allocated Super Pension with a Health Care Card. I sold up in South West Gippsland in September 2014 and now my address is "Austalia". If I rented my house out it would be classed as income for sure.
