RE: WINDOWS 10

I do hope windows 10 is better than 8.

Windows 8 drives me nuts, I did read that it was mostly designed for notepads.

I can't shut down my computer 8 out of 10 times unless I go through my Norton Virus Scan.

I will wait a month and check with whirlpool.net.au and see what the guys there say.

Cheers,
Naomi.

I would say your problem could be more to do with Norton rather than Windows 8.

It creates more computer operating problems than it is worth.

Cheers Neil

I agree completely Neil, have run Norton in the past and found it caused more problems than it fixed, particularly when it comes time to uninstall, it's almost impossible to remove all traces of the program from your hard drive.

I'm running Widows defender as security, seems to be doing the job with little fuss.

Like all new operating systems Windows 8.1 takes a little coming to terms with, after almost 12 months of tweaking I've got my system running very reliably, no major complaints from me re 8.1.

As was mentioned earlier, I will upgrade to 10, however will certainly not be an early adopter.smile

Yes ditch Nortons, it's more trouble than it's worth. When you unload it go to the Nortons site and get their removal tool to get rid of the bits that the M$ removal programme does not get rid of.

Apple manages to eliminate issues with driver and application software by being a much more stable operating system.

Apple computers wrap themselves in very solid piece of aluminium casing and are very very well made so are a little more expensive but you get what you pay for.

The Apple operating system upgrades are, and have been for many years FREE, unlike the Windows ones where you still can't buy a 6 years old Windows 7 operating system for under about $120.

Not sure what the (restrictive) actually means so I won't comment on that one.

This may or may not be true, regardless the name of the topic is "Re Windows 10" I see no reference to Apple.smile

The discussion was on operating systems and someone mentioned Apple so It was close enough for me as I had to correct, what I believed, was not an accurate statement. I apologize if i veered too far off the subject for your liking.

Cheers

Jon

The original poster was specifically asking for info re Windows 10.smile

"I was trolling around the net yesty...when this little segmented box appeared up in the right hand corner of my screen. I highlighted it and it said "Windows 10".. so I opened it .

It basically is an invitation to reserve a full version of Microsoft,s new system ...for free!!

I contacted my guru ...who informed me that Microsoft is making available ...for 12 months apparently...an update new system for those of us who are running 7 and 8....as far as he knew anyway.

He did say to err on the side of caution because it may be that there is no going back in case it turns out worse than what 8 was...and just sit on the offer for a while. He will definitely download it when he has more info onto 1 of his putas at least.

Anyone of the ,sperts on here got any ideas, more info etc????. Is it a forward move for the better..or a backward one??  Harder to use ..or easier??"
