I have heaps of trouble working out maps etc... Mrs does too..

could be formatted different .? It has all the info..

Or is it just me ?

confuse do you mean Camps 8 rather than Camps 7 ?

I haven't bought Camps 8 as yet, but have had a gander at it in the shop. 

The maps certainly are different and the 'camp markers' as well. I think I would need a bit of time to adjust.

Change cry everything has to change no

There use to be 2 certainties in life, taxation and death,,, and now since the 80-90's we seem to have added a third, CHANGE.

Very frustrating at times I believe. Camps 7 changed the numbering from earlier versions and that created problems when you quote good sites by numbers,,, we had big stuff ups.

I have WikiCamps on my Windows phone, tablet and PC, only had to pay for it once ($8) to be able to install it on all my devices. Updates are free and new locations, comments and pics are being added by users all the time. You don't need to have internet or even phone coverage to use it as you can download new info to your device when you do have coverage.

Besides having maps, reviews, prices, pics etc on the camp sites, it can give you full directions of how to get there :)

Some people will always prefer the old school way, same with reading paper books vs ebooks, but for me, WikiCamps is the only way to go. As soon as camps 8 was printed it was out of date.

Gday...

hmm Unfortunately, Steve, I don't have a 'Smartphone', tablet or WIN8 PC ... just me old 8 year old mobile on a pre-paid plan and a 2009 laptop with WIN7.

Therefore the cost of Camps book is much cheaper and more versatile for me than buying a new 'device' and 'plan', just to run Wikicamps.

Maybe one day when the passage of time pushes me further into the dinosaur age, I guess I will have to lash out and spend a cuppla hundred $$$ to keep doing what I like to do. cry

Until then I will hide in my ludite lifestyle

I ended up using my iPhone Via Wiki . On recent trip to South Aust . I had to keep programming gps as they tend to steer you near Melbourne or major cities .. I started in Penrith, over the Mountains, Bathurst then headed south .. I like the country towns big time..
But you have to keep an eye on things !! Melbourne seems to have big magnet...

im sure it's camps 7? I bought it about a year ago..  It does help finding dump points etc..

 What in particular do you have problems with. It all seems logical to me. His numbering worked its way down major routes with the nearby ones not on the route included in the route numbering. There are only a few symbols to remember, mainly they represent day use only and overnighters. They also change colour when there is a dump point with them. What could be simpler?

no actually I called myself a Luddite .. and Ondabeach stated that he didn't view me as a Luddite ... although he did liken me to those creatures in the Jurassic movie he had seen recently
