Plenty of solo travellers out there, women and men. Look at Shekon, Frangipani, Happy Wanderer, Spida, to name a few, all members of this forum, and out there doing it, solo. Lots of good advice from these people. Welcome and enjoy the whole forum, not just the solo section, read everything, great way to learn the do's and don'ts.

Welcome from me as well to both Jelaw and Dianne- I'll be a full-time solo from the beginning of next year and have gained confidence and some inspiration from the ladies that Jules mentioned, and also from High Chief Dougwe (among other esteemed members of this great forum). Enjoy the playground, it's there for all of us to enjoy!
Cheers
Joe

Just remember there is a BIG difference between 'loneliness' and 'being alone'. You can feel lonely in a group of people!!!!! Being alone takes time to get used to, but then is heaven most of the time. I love parking up with no-one close by, and having no-one else to consider when making decisions......... I read a lot, enjoy the computer, take photos, potter around cleaning the caravan, write, play my Ukulele, watch a bit of tv when I can get it - and sleep like a log every night. If you want company then it is pretty easy to wander over and chat to others. Asking for advice is always a good opener!
Enjoy - and dont be afraid to get away from those main highways. The country roads give you time to go slow and just enjoy driving without the stress of all that traffic!!!!!

Well said Spida. There are so many women travelling solo or about to, coming up on facebook's travel groups. A lot seem to be terrified of travelling alone and requesting others to travel with, just too scared of the aloneness, or the loneliness, I'm not sure which.
It's not hard, in fact it's a damn side easier when you don't have to consider others and can go where you want, when you want. They haven't learnt that yet.
And it's welcome from us two 2
I heartily agree with all comments above
you don't have to be alone to be lonely either
Also
Just remember when you are alone you are with great company enjoy it

Welcome Jelaw. I can only agree with the previous posts. After nearly two years out here exploring this wonderful country, I would not have it any other way.
Like Spida said, get off the main roads and explore the country areas. So much to see and do, and that is where you meet the loveliest of people. Yes there are times when it may become lonely, yet there is usually somebody around to have a chat to. If not head for the nearest supermarket or service station and say hello to somebody, and then all is good again. The longer you do it, the better it gets.
As long as you follow the number one rule of if it does not feel right, move on, then you will be fine. The world is actually not a scary place. The other thing I have found is, do not listen to those who tell you that there is nothing in a place so not worth going to. Find out for yourself. My experience, particularly here in WA, has been the people who have told me that, have been people who have driven through a place and not stopped. Stop, get out and explore, talk to the locals, and you find that each town has its own charm and history.
Above all have fun and enjoy yourself. Safe travels.

Thank you so much to everyone who responded to my first solo post. It's great knowing that others are out there enjoying the lifestyle to.
I appreciate your words of wisdom about travelling solo. I am used to it as I have taken a few trips myself in the past few years. I enjoy reading
everyone's posts and I wish you all safe and happy journey's.
Joe, you bring a smile to my dial every time I see your AV mate. Just love the look on his/her face.
Keep Safe out there.
Thanks Doug, glad to oblige. I used to smile and get a warm glow from your old one (no need to mention which one ) - alas they're just a memory now. One of my current favourites is Sarg's AV ... oops, have I gone OT? If so, you started it, but I'm happy to share a Merlot or two with you in the naughty room
Cheers, Joe

Welcome from me tooooooo., loneliness? Alone? hmmmmm, I've met lots and lots of caring wonderful people on the road., I find free camping more friendly... my choice..., yes I get lonely, but then I talk to Sam Bear, he makes me smile... life is what you make it, you say hi if no one talks to you, you'll get a vibe... happy travels -fran
Thanks Fran, was thinking I had been using it for long enough and should look for a new one, but now I guess I'd better keep it for a little while longer I noticed a newbie used it (without the caption) a couple of months ago but haven't seen them here since. BTW I notice a sudden increase in the green track on your avatar - you haven't gone back to your early habits, have you???
Cheers, safe travels and hope we cross paths somewhere once I'm on the road full time next year.
