Beautiful spot and being at the end of the road is quiet and peaceful. I was there last Oct. and I stayed a couple of days till the midges and sand flies got to me. Screens were useless, the little beggars are too small.
Apart from that a great spot as are the rest of the small towns along the Sandy Straights.
Absolutely love your blog. What terrific people but your always run into few that aren't. Laughed about your good shirt and win of $1 is better than a loss.
Great update John & lots of great pictures. Never heard of that place before but boy do I remember Tin Can Bay. In my Army days in the early 60's we used to take the Artillery Guns & Ammo in the old Studebakers from Brisbane to the firing range just near there. Will never forget the stinking sand flies there.

I too had a few interesting experiences at TCB with 14 Battery of 5 Fld Regt. shooting up 44 gallon drums at a range of up to 8 miles. I was a cut 'lunch commando' 'drop short' for 2 years & 355 days.
TCB like Poona is well known for sandflies. Pity because Poona is a great little place.
