Sirocco 12v fan installation

My new fan was faulty and had to be replaced a kind guy unscrewed it from the wires while I was on the road.... I was able to get a new one, I would like to put it up myself, there is a black wire and a red wire which goes all the way into my house batteries, these wires a still attached. The wires that were connected to the fan inside the Motorhome have been taped..

Is it ok to screw the black wire to the - neg connection n the red wire to the + pos connection if I switch the power off?? Hope someone can understand my explanation.  I watched the guy take the wires off and tape them. -Fran

Disconnect from battery first Fran.

I just rewired my Caframo fan with heavier cable direct to inside fan terminals as it kept cutting out. All works great now. Obviously not enough of that 12v juice getting through to it's innards.

The sirocco will be damaged if incorrect polarity. They are electronic. I think + - is marked on the terminals inside the mounting base. I have one sitting in the garage waiting to go in my van. I'll check it in the morning to make sure i'm not leading you astray. Cheers pete

Yep. When you take the base plate of to access the terminals they a very clearly marked + - .

Fran, if wires are connected to battery as you say I would disconnect the Neg wire at least before doing any changes. Much safer and no chance of damaging anything that way.
