Hi Guys and girls. This question has more than likely been asked before. Is about your post. When you nomads are on the road just cruising from one place to another with no timetable how is your post organised, as not everything comes through your computer. I will be selling my House next year and moving to Tasmania. I'm planning to put all my belongings in storage. and spend 2 to 3 months in my camper trailer. trying out free camping, organised campsites along the way seeing what my real budget will be. But how do you organise your post and with who? You use Australia post for forwarding your mail, or is their a 3rd party. Your input would be greatly appreciated.
Our mail goes to a daughter. I phone her up & tell her what to throw in the bin & what I want to keep. She then sends it on to where ever we are. Works well
Thanks for replying. Kandagal's way of doing it will not work for me, would be the best way though. I will have to look at Daryl's idea of mail forwarding companies how they work and what each are charging to see how expensive they are. Thanks again.
John Hi, Through having a PO Box I have got to know the Postmaster (franchisee). As I travel for sometimes up to 3 months I leave a few $ with Him when it's convenient give Him a call & He sends my mail in a post pak on to Post Office where I'm staying. That won't work for everyone but there is plenty of options.
Oh it also cost's me a Lions Xmas cake at Christmas.
I have been looking at options, and I have found 3 at the moment Landbase which is the most expensive 3 months $135 12 months $410 Trailmail 3 months $100 12 months $220. These 2 I googled and found an earlier post from here. and another one sosmail the cheapest 3 months $60 12 months $193.6. Sosmail and landbase give you an address so if you are on the road and you have to give a fixed address to some government department you can do. Thanks for the suggestions. All ideas are still on the table at the moment.

hi , could u tell us a bit more about sosmail n landbase. Never knew about them. Regards. Rocket
Hi Rocket I only know what I read. I did a Google and found a post where landbase was mentioned. and also found sosmail in my search. Prices I quote are from their website. You need an actual address for your post and they give you that. and you will need that for a whole host of things pensions, banks road tax, and the like. Sorry I cannot tell you more never used them. Just doing research for when I hit the road middle to late this year.
I think Australia Post also has a 'mail hold' option - that might suit if you're only going to be on the road for 2-3 months, and you're not expecting any big bills. Cost depends on whether you're a pensioner/senior or not. Alternatively, get it redirected to someone you trust and leave them with a few stamped envelopes. When you know you're going to be in an area/town for a few days, get the person to post it to the local post office post restante. You can extend or cancel the arrangement with the PO when you have a new address.

Red Yes I have that option available to me. And yes I will be a pensioner early next month. Wow did not think I'd make it that far! But I may try out one of the mail direction companies, as once I have bought my little piece of Tassie that suits my needs. I intend to hit the road and be a real Grey Nomad. And that is what I'm really looking forward too.
