Had both of mine done over the last year and a half. Prior to that all my mature friends looked younger with smooth skin. Now I can see clearly we are all peas in a pod. Wrinkles and grey hair

Both my parents have had their cataracts done. Each opted to have the first eye done in the public hospital system while their second eye was done privately. I found it odd that the waiting list did not take both eyes into account. It would seem logical that both eyes should have been on the list, albeit 6 months apart. Instead, after the first operation the waiting list for their second eye restarted. I wonder if most people choose to have their second eye done privately for this reason, ie to avoid living with one good eye and one bad eye.

Due to the length of the waiting list I had my first eye operation by a private doctor at the public hospital where he operates from. The out of pocket expenses were $2000 less than a private hospital around $800. I was placed on the waiting list and on his cancellation for the second eye. I only waited six months for the operation by the same private doctor as a public patient at no cost to me. A very good doctor to converse with and a great bedside manner. Now I just have to wait for my knee hopefully soon before I sell and travel.

Yes, all went well thanks. It has knocked me about a bit as I forget that I am 62% behind an average 66 year old, so taking it easy and resting up. I had my left eye done around 3 years ago.

I had a local blocker but no sedation as the anaesthetist failed to show for me as he was running late!!

So, today I went to the anaesthetic group and got my $126 back. biggrin
