pure sine wave invertors

Continuing the discussion on induction cookers etc .

I would like some advice on invertors ...  plan to upgrade an 1100 watt mod sine to pure sine say 2000 ... 2500 watt need something compact can anyone recommend a brand ?  so many out there and want to avoid those cheap ones on ebay !!!  heard a few stories on those .

YOUR HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED .

I think the better brand names are the way to go, along with the price that goes with them. Picking a specific model is somewhat personal choice. Doing an upgrade should also consider what you will power the thing with. Will the current battery bank handle the increase in demand of more than 100% at full draw?

gday folks

2 points, the modified sine wave may not run an induction cooktop, and as Iza said you need some healthy LARGE battery to run 2500W at full power. As far as brand is concerned, your choice. I got my inverter from ebay 3 years ago its a pure sine wave 2500W (hhmmm) and complains when I put the coffee machine to it (1500W) BUT when I make my coffee the battery voltage (2 x 110AH AGMs) drops like a rock to about 11 volts (BTW they recover rather well) so the genny gets the coffee machine now. As far as the inverter goes we run our elec blankets all night and 240V chargers as long as needed.

Cheers

Thanks phil for the advice will probably forget about an induction cooker for the time being !  I also bought a pure sine on ebay a few years ago size of a battleship !!   payed $250 for it  very cheap for what I needed  3000 watt think they saw me coming thing was rubbish ! had trouble running microwave 800 watt kept cutting out ... when I reconnected to my current 1100 watt mod sine had no trouble .

Most of the time you get what you pay for live and learn I guess !!
