Hi All. First time post so will see how I go. Been watching the forum as a guest for some time and gained many helpful tips and useful information. Thank You everyone. Now have a question that some of you may be able to help with. Our 03 Jayco Freedom Poptop has a slight low spot in the roof which when the van is set up level creates a puddle on the roof. I have investigated how the roof is constructed and it appears to be the aluminium sheet on top with approx 25 to 30mm thick timbers and styrene foam, then the coated ply ceiling stapled and glued to the timbers and foam. I would like to carefully remove one section of ply and insert some 25mm aluminium square tubing, with a slight upward bow in it, alongside and screwed to the timbers. Is this something that may work or am I opening a can of worms that I won't get the lid back on. If it won't work I would really appreciate input from anyone who can offer a better solution.
Thanks All in anticipation of your thoughts.
Joff

Hold everything, just be for you go in boot's and all, why not give the service department at jayco a ring first to see if your idear is going to work or you may find that your have 'stuffed it up'.
Jayco built the caravan and would have a good idear as to how the roof went together!!. So would how to fix your problem.
I had a question for the service department when i fitted the solar panels to the roof to my own pop top Jayco caravan, as i had to drill a hole in the roof for the power feed cable to the solar controller /house battery and did not know how the power cable for the 12 Volt lighting was run.
Jayco were very helpful and only to happy to answer my questions.
Hi Joff. Welcome to the Forum and we all look forward to hearing a lot from you in the future - both questions and also answers to others questions and about your travels. Member input keeps this Forum alive !!
I have a Supreme van which is only 18 mnths old. When you climb up on a ladder and look across the roof after rain, there are puddles all over it as the roof is not fitted as you would expect - a nice flat roof with a slope that rain water would just drain off. I guess that's a reflection on the quality of RV building.
When we drive off, the water just runs off with the movement and air stream across it. We have had the van parked for up to 6 months in the one place and (touch wood), no leaks, rust - aluminum) or other problems.
I would go with Valiant and leave things as they are unless you actually do get a leak problem

Thanks Valiant and Bruce for your responses. One thing I have learnt after 30 years working with boats, particularly wooden boats is to look closely at a job and carefully think about it before committing to it. So Valiant I think your suggestion to call Jayco is a very worthwhile (I have looked up the number and will call them as soon as I get a chance). I agree Bruce that the pool on the roof is not a huge issue when moving often and even when parked up for awhile is not that big a drama to simply drop one end from time to time to run the water off. But after having leaks in the roof last year, which I have since fixed by raking out all the joints and resealing with marine grade sealant then coating with a water proofing membrane, I am keen to do what I can to not have water sitting on the roof unnecessarily.
Thanks again. Will repost again later when I have spoken to Jayco and make a decision.

Spoke to Jayco service yesterday and as Valiant advised they were very helpful. Would seem that what I was hoping to do is on the right track, the guy I spoke to suggested a couple things to help make it easier. Will let everyone know how I go when I get a chance to do the job, might take me awhile though as I am currently working for a few weeks.
cheers
Joff
