The day we nearly lost our Son

Hi All, Some of you may have noticed I've been rather quiet lately,

The reason is because we have been through a tough time over the last few weeks,

Our Son had returned from a holiday to Singapore, on his return he fell ill, he was complaining of being over heated when the temperature was only 5deg, he had the runs and was vomiting,

At first he only put it down to the sudden change in conditions, Singapore was very hot and humid while here in Perth, the night time temperature on his return was near freezing,

At first he refused to see a doctor, saying it was only a cold. but after a few days he got worse, I finally called a doctor at about 6.30 pm,  the doctor never showed up till around 10.30,  after a quick examination the doc said I think we had better get the lad into Hospital,

With no time to spare he suggested I take him straight away and not wait for an Ambulance,   he would ring ahead,

Well this really gave us a fright, My old Nissan really lit up the highway, we had around 20km to got to the Hospital, it only took us about 15min to do it in,  as usual on arrival at the Emergency entrance there was a delay of about an hour. all this time we watched as the young bloke's condition got worse ,  finally he was admitted it to intensive care,

The young fella spent the next 5 days in intensive care while they did many tests to find the cause of his illness, we visited him every day but he showed no sign of recognising us for the first 4 days, I'll  tell you what, it was very upsetting seeing him just lying there with all the tubes sticking out of him, plus all the monitors beeping away,

Then on the fifth day he showed signs of improvement and was transferred to a general ward, another couple of days and we were surprised to get a phone call from him, saying he could come home.

Well that was a week ago when he returned home, today he is still recovering, he's still pretty weak but a hell of a lot better than what he was, that's for sure .

The Hospital rang yesterday to tell us that they had finally discovered what he was suffering from, it turned out to be Legionaries Disease, contracted from bad air conditioning or dirty water while in Singapore, we believe the Hospital have contacted the Health Department over this case,  there maybe a third rate hotel ,getting a visit very shortly.

The Hospital also said that if the young bloke hadn't been admitted when he was, he would not have seen the night out.  I guess the story here is, Don't mess about with your health, if you don't feel well, get into the Doctor real quick.

Good to see things worked out . Not knowing what is wrong or how bad things are in the first place sure makes you worry big time .

Wow, how frightening that must have been. Hope he recovers fully, and stays away from third rate hotels in future. Take care of him, and yourselves.

Yes Jules, That's exactly what the Young Bloke will be doing in the future,  This trip was organised by booking through FLIGHT CENTRE,

He is going to put in a complaint about this Hotel, but doesn't expect to get any feed-back, he was planning to return to Singapore in the near future and continue travelling further North from there,

These plans are now in the bottom of the waste paper bin, well buried and forgotten.

"Hell No"  Not a good idea Ken,  there's an old saying two a party three's a ...........

For the last 33 years, we've been trying to get him to leave home, "Fat Hope"

then when He does leave for only a couple of weeks, look what happens !!!,

I think a better idea is for him to stay home and look after the dogs, while Mum and I do a bit more sight seeing.

Looking after These massive Watch Dogs will be a full time job.    LOL  ..............

Thanks Rocket n strop,   Our Son has now made a full recovery, and after another x ray at the Hospital a week ago, has been given a full bill of health.

Needless to say, he's not taking any more chances with  his health by traveling to that Country again.

Cheers  K.J.
