I have a Smev cooktop and stove combo in my van. The flick mixer tap has started leaking and in my opinion needs replacing. The question is can I replace it with one purchased from Bunnings provided its the same diameter hole or do I have to go via a caravan parts supplier.
"Smev cooktop and stove combo" "Flick mixer tap leaking". Mate, I'm confused, yes I know, easy for me. I assume it is the water tap leaking I am pretty sure they would be the same at the big green shed. Maybe take the problem causing tap in with you.
Make sure you turn the water off first mate
You are not allowed to buy anything else while there though

Full on to full off is very quick. This can induce water hammer to three times the normal supply pressure. Eg. 360 to more than 1000 kilo pascals. Like a car decelerating when it hits a brick wall. Many times seen washer rubber and ceramic leak because of this.

Never thought of that Tony. I'll bear it in mind for both caravan and home.
Not yet Doug. I'll do it in early July once I've got the van home. Its parked at the factory (about 100kms from home) and I use it a couple of days every week instead of travelling up and down, until I finally get to retire at the end of the month....I hope
Most flick mixers have replaceable cartridges that can be changed like you would change a weaping washer in a traditional tap.
Dis-assemble yours - take the plastic hot-cold indicator plug out, loosen the allen bolt under it and take the whole tap handle off. Take a picture, then lift the cartridge out.
Go to a plumbing store and get a matching replacement. Put it in aligned to match the picture. Re-assemble the mixer.
bye.

I know its an old thread but, I had to remove the flick mixer tap out of a 2013 pop-top Jayco last week - need the assistance from a midget contortionist with three arms and an extra hand on the end of the old fella - I think the van was built around the tap
