Privacy Screen

Hello to all.

We are new to the caravanning world although I have owner a simple camper for a long time.

Having just done my first trip away I noticed a lot of caravaners using the grey privacy screens. Looking around the market I noticed several brands and I come to you seeking recommendations.

I am of the belief that you buy right the first time as it saves money and time in the long run. Advice and tips gratefully accepted.

We have been caravanning for many years & will be picking up the latest van for us in a few days.

I have ordered a set of privacy screens from this supplier after a lot of research.  Good quality for a reasonable price.

Give them a call, they do postage too.

Cheers Neil

Lots of screens around. They all do the job. Not much between them. We have two Camec 90% screens that are OK. The 90% is good when it's windy outside when cooking under our awning. We have a full length screen that we alligator clip to the end screens to make a kind of windproof annexe.

we bought an expensive (relative to many other brands) screen as we wanted it to last and not just tear along the seams in the first puff of wind.

We spoke to a couple of people in the RV industry and both said that the purple ones reflected more sun and heat than the other colours. Same price as the others and didn't buy them from these people.

Have no idea why purple is better, but they have been tested in the sun against other colours, including grey and green

Yea we mainly got one to keep sun out of awning . The sides I hope to get a more air flow through friendly shade when we order .. Plus a screen on the other / drivers side . So much time to do things now . Time to think about it too !! Lol

We use 95% shade cloth along long length with one more cut to fit end
It fits on either end for wind deflection or privacy..

Bolt rope along top with reinforced eyelets along bottom which stops around 6 to9 inches from ground.
Have stretchy straps to hold down. Plus longer stretchy's and short poles to hold bottom out for more airflow.

I also fitted a sail track on other side of van and use old roll out awning , sitting on 4 poles
High enuff up, to keep sun off windows. fridge.
PLUS a carport for car.
Incorporating a shower tent at other end of van to door too.

with Heatproof paint on top.. makes it real comfortable on continuous 32deg days in Darwin and areas.
Sit in sun all day. Shade NOT wanted.
Panels working a treat, HWS on top of ute giving lovely showers several times a day for sweating.

Get a sail track for bolt rope fitted on off side of van.
Along the top seam of cladding b4 the roof line starts to slope back to give most height.
You'll appreciate it later when wanting a carport in hot climes for car and van wall a LOT cooler.

I like the idea of using a privacy screen on the vans off side, but I have wondered how it would affect the airflow of the fridge's top exhaust vent. It seems airflow would be restricted by the privacy screen, as the track would be mounted just above the vent.  Any thoughts please?

Cheers, John.

I assume the vent cannot be moved to roof ? I would get a section cut out of screen ? Or add a solar fan to pull hot air out ?
