Absolutely beautiful spot for freedom camping, no facilities, about 13k into Coober Pedy for water (approx. 20c per 30 litres) and dump point. Secure spot out of town to leave your van while exploring. Highly recommend.
Lots of great spots in that part of Australia, enjoy your trip.
As an afterthought re security, would certainly not unhook the van and leave it unattended at any rest area on the Stuart highway, asking for trouble.

Agree Santa, most rest areas I would not, but this one, many GNs are there offering security to each other. Close enough to Coober Pedy for a visit, but far enough away for the locals not to bother you.
