Shower waist leaking

the other day wile crawling under the van installing our water saver I noticed a wet spot around the drain pipe coming from the shower . Bzzzzzz something  wrong there gungadin . So after a bit of serve lance I found in all the van builders wisdom they installed the waist pipe sealing the top with the old celastic and the nut on the bottom of the waist was screwed up against the floor . Now I'm no plumber but gord love me people who think clastic is the be all to end all need a tube of it shoved were it won't fit . My answer to this make the hole in the floor big enough to get the nut all the way up to the shower base so the rubber seal will do its job. And at the same time who would build a fibre glass shower base with a level floor . No indent where the waste pipe goes through . That leaves you with a 2/3 mill lip in the base for it to hold water and when the elastic decays a bit it's forced Ito the floor under the shower base .. I fixed mine but I have seen heaps of others with rotten floors under the shower .some fro cracks and I bet some from celastic .

Another way to see if something's wrong if the floor cracks or fears spongy when you stand on it. Get it looked at or look your self . Ive seen bills from floor repairs not cheap

Gday Mr Glasses,

We had the same issues but our floor cracked. I ended up covering the whole floor in fibreglass. Never looked back, works a treat. The nut is a different issue, I would remove the pipes, tighten the nut after a liberal squirt of sealant then replace the pipes. If thats possible.

Good luck.

Sorry.
Did not mean to rattle your chain. I should have put LOL after it.
No I do not spend time doing spellcheck on everyone's posts - would be a full time job and I have much better things to do with my time.

Shut the front gate!

That would have to be on the nose I reckon Phil.

I would have to be the worlds worst speller I reckon and poor grammar chucked in for good measure. As most here know I do a monthly update, have done for years now. Even though I read through them a few times before posting or emailing, a couple of spelling mistakes creep through. Grammar? More than likely full of mistakes there too. I get enjoyment passing on information about various places or things I have done that I think will interest those reading that may not have the opportunity to be in the playground. I add paragraphs where I want and to break up the chit chat, they may not be in the right places but in my eyes make it easier to read.

There was someone came on as a newbie a while back and I suggested to brake up a long post without paragraphs as I couldn't read all the lines and words blending into each other. I then got a couple of English lessons. I still see the same person doing it the same way so I have to miss out on what has been posted as I can't read it. Probably missing great posts too.

Oh! I have been to Specsavers recently and has made no difference.

We are not at school, been there done that, unsuccessfully obviously. Wonder how I got through my long management career at the same place?

Let's all just enjoy the forum, spelling mistakes and all. I for one always work out what is being said.

Keep Safe on the roads.

For a wild west Indian, I reckon you're spelling and grammar is pretty damn good Dougwe :)

I agree with the comments about spelling here, I sometimes screw up, but I do have auto spell check on, so have no excuse.

Many posts have terrible spelling mistakes in them. but who cares - just so long as we can understand it all, it doesn't matter a toss. I'd much rather see lots of posts on all sorts of stuff, than people being put off for their less than perfect spelling.

Sorry Dibs for being so off topic - glad to see you fixed the problem
