Most members use just a separate mains charger, DC-DC charger and a solar controller. They don't seem to worry too much about a battery monitor, they just use a volt meter to monitor the batteries. Try pricing your own system with individual pieces of equipment.

Lefty I use a Votronic battery monitor, cost just on $200. They are a German made unit and come with a choice of amperages  100, 200 & 400 amp. Choose according to your needs. I use a 100 Amp unit as we only run a 360 Watt inverter and rarely draw more than 20 Amps from the batteries at any time. They monitor current in and out of battery system, battery voltage and keep track of battery charge condition either as Amp/Hrs remaining or % of full charge. I have found it to be a very useful piece of gear for monitoring my battery system and would not be without one. If you need further info please PM me for details.

Would the Votronic unit be the "LCD Battery Computer 100 S with Measuring Shunt 100A, No. 1262"?

Sorry for delay as been offline for a while. I bought mine on Ebay from a NZ supplier some years ago as there was no Aust. seller. Now they can be obtained from Solar4RVs at similar prices. Yes Dorian that is what I use.

Here is a link solar4rvs.com.au

Sorry all have had several tries to insert the link but it just goes to the general forum page so just type it in your browser
