I look at all the caravans for sale and the facilities are so very limited. I was hoping to find a 14-16' pop top with a small toilet cubical. It seems that most offer a large "COMBO" shower /toilet stall. Does everyone like sitting in a wet shower stall to do their business? The other option offered is no facilities so that you sit your porta pottie in the middle of the eating area and... - never mind your wife may be cooking. Don't most people like a little privacy? I would think most people could hand wash them selves most days in the kitchen and use a shower in the parks when available. However on a cold rainy night its not nice to run to a toilet across the park. It also seems to me that eliminating the shower also saves a lot of water storage weight so tow mileage is better or tow vehicles can be smaller. I'm a mechanical designer and I see it as a pretty simple building and layout task.
I'm posting this because I've just been called an "ignorant pig" by one of the "reputable" RV manufacturers in Melbourne for suggesting it. Is it a reasonable request or am I just an old ignorant pig over the pale?
Well if you don't use the shower you won't have a wet floor , We only use a porta pottie at night for number 1 never had a problem finding a toilet when on the road , Most rest area have toilets , If camp for a extended time and no toilets available you can buy a shower tent cheap to put your porta pottie in and have an outside loo , Having shower and toilet in a small pop top take up a lot of space .
Well I wouldn't think that that request would put you in the ignorant pig class are you sure he wasn't talking about himself ?
But may I suggest that this post should be in the general forum rather than the introduction one but as you are a newby you are forgiven.

just my point- If I don't need a shower installed why should I pay for one. They are heavy and take up lots of space. It seems the mfg haven't discovered this yet or are so concerned with extra profit that they don't consider it.
We have a 17'6" pop top our porta pottie stores under the bed in it's own cupboard to be used in emergencies, of a night it gets used for number ones, placed down the other end of van between the dinner seats, we have no issues with this arrangement. Most times I am a sleep or the other way round she is a sleep, after 46 years nothing is new us but we do respect each others privacy. Really only we would know we use one unless you see me take the cassette to dump point.
As Brickies said we also have a throw up shower tent for the longer stays when low cost camping.
99% of the time we use a public toilet arrangment for number two, wether on the road or in c/p. We have been practicing this fòr about 4 plus years now with a mix of c/p, and low cost camping, for the most we like to do about 2 months tours, home for a short time and then on road again.
Saying all that we are looking at updating our van and it will have fixed arrangment in it possibly a combo or full en suite.
There was a manufacturer that had short floor plan but was very cramped, had the bed across the front back around the 2000 mark sold by Kratmann Caravans Burpengary Qld.
