I would have thought the Cruiser would certainly have taken extra oil, and may have required some filter changes if the kms were different on the vehicles and it was being serviced per the manual.
Other than that, many places do charge extra for 4WD vehicles so maybe that is the reason.
You will need to read the fine print on the mechanics ad or invoice.
PS, we have a Cruiser, and $235 for a service seems a reasonable charge.

Chaos, mayhem, confusion. Good my job here is done
Oil capacity on the Avalon is 4.7l while on the landcruiser it is 10l. That extra 5l of oil alone will account for an extra $45 in charges. I wish my mechanic only charged $235 to service the cruiser.

At the risk of being a tad trite ... ... I really would have assumed any difference in the cost of service to two very disparate vehicles would be evident within the presented invoices.

I just recently had our motor vehicles service on the same day by the same mobile mechanic.
He quoted me $190 for each service.
We have 2 vehicles. Both cars service intervals are 10,000klms or 6 months which ever occurs first.
We have a Toyota Avalon which was service within time and klms limits. Cost $190
Now we also have a Toyota Land cruiser which was serviced well with in the 10,000 klms range but was over the 6 months service recommendation.
The fee for the Cruiser was $235 with the comment ( overdue service).
My Q. is what would be the reason for the extra $45 as I can not see what extra work or time was involved.
I must admit that I did not analyse the invoices until I arrived home. My mistake.
I do not mind pay for work to be done, but I see RED if I then that I have been ripped off.
Any ideas or thought on why the extra charge?

Once he's quoted a price, he cannot charge you more without your explicit consent to carry out more work. I feel for you having paid up at the time, as I have done it too & then I've thought about it afterwards, as you seem to have done. Its very, very annoying!
Yep!!! I must admit that I did not think about the extra oil needed. But I am happy to pay the invoice price, but I was just wondering why a $$$$ varation in the services.
