PLODNALONG moved on

Surat proved to be a bit too cold. I thought Queensland was warm in the winter but after scraping ice off the windscreen for three mornings I decided that further north was warranted. I have now reached Nirvana near Proserpine in the dry tropics. A fabulous campground with great shade from the strong sun and awesome people every day at happy hour. And only $100 a week for power and water. Not for everyone though as it is nudist, but if you think it might be for you then give it a go. (ps it's called Taylorwood, not Nirvana, and give them a ring first before rarking up. Number is on Wikicamps)

Andy.

Plodnalog - that made me laugh - when we told someone in WA, we were coming over, they told us about a good caravan park - at the end of his note he added - "oh, by the way it is a nudist camp" - somehow I don't think the general population are ready for our bodies!!!!!!

Enjoy - but watch where the mossies bite!!!! hahahaa

Jules I don't think I'm ready for my own body let alone the world.

Not quite ready for that one. No fancy bells or whistles, my body is what it is and i'm happy with that.

I suppose that wandering round starkers in Surat would have caused quite a stir .. especially with icicles hanging off the dangling bits.

Better off in the tropics with only leeches & mossies to worry about.

I must say Cupie that the mozzies are a pain and all I have saved on laundry goes on Aerogard No leeches or snakes seen so far (and I think I would have noticed) It is interesting that the reaction to this post is not amazement that one can get a site with power and water for $100 a week just out of Airlie Beach, which is just stunning and it's an awesome place, but that a nudist place is so strange. This is my first time in a nudist camp site and, being much less than an Adonis myself, I had a little trepidation at first. But, being of the mind that my life is my own, I'm travelling solo and to hell with it I just thought to go for it. I am so glad that I did because any body issues I have had in the past have just evaporated by my realisation that all of us are "normal" and what is abnormal and strange are the bodies seen in magazines. So for those who say the world is not ready to see my body I say just put it out there and you will see that it is just as normal as all the others out there. The noticeable awesome thing about this site (I have no idea about other nudist places) is the atmosphere. As a single traveller you are often left out of social get togethers in so many campsites as a few, often travelling together, couples have happy hour. In this place happy hour or two is pretty much a ritual and is a great time to get to know other campers. If this is typical of nudist places then I will go for them every time over dusty showgrounds and unfriendly couples hugging their rigs.
