Recently I was approached by two different travellers, at two different sites, to assist them to set up their iTechworld Satellite Dishes, as they could see that my SatKing dish was working.
Using my Satlink-RV meter, which is commonly referred to as the "Marriage Saver", I could only get a 25% signal, from their dishes, which was unfortunately not enough to give them any TV
I ask any owners of iTechworld Satellite Dishes to please put up a written tuition on how to set these dishes up, so that we can assist others if the need arises
It is not a nice feeling, when someone asks for assistance, and you are unable to help them
STD 1 mtr round dish, Better than the oval ones I tried at first.
You don't need these fancy Sat TV setups/dishes.
ANY dish with CORRECT LNB on stable "speaker" stand will do.
I had Jaycar spkr stand, plus a vertical post on drwabar to carry dish and short stop setups.
You can get Latitude 'block" Charts off net. with elevations for each block/Sat, on it.
You know bearing for sat.
Set elevation on dish/stand, b4 you start (Same as Sextant)
then slowly rock up/down through radius of bearing till getting signal.
Lock stand on bearing and fine tune.
I use Analog tuner and hand compass
Most phones can have compass app nowadays.
After first coupla try's, easy.
BUT... You always get some frustrating areas.
I carry a looong cable to suit. And a nice glass of whiskey.
Setting elevation first, and turning dish ON FLAT GROUND preferably.
takes 95% of guesswork out of it.
You think sat tv is hard.
Try finding a star without presetting elevation from charts on Sextant first.
We were camped in central Queensland among a lot of trees every one was having trouble getting reception on their sat tv I ended up facing the back of the caravan about a metre from the van perfect reception
The bear
Ours is an Itech World dish. Haven't had any problems.
I usually use dishpointer.com, jiggle the dish around a bit and bingo.
Hello sandsmer
Please be aware that I am only explaining and not complaining about your type of dish I am not trying to say that mine is better than yours I am seeking info on how to set up your type of dish up, so that if asked again, I can pass on this information to others
I was using a SatKing meter box which will only lock onto the correct satellite One of the people I was trying to help, had the exact same meter box with iTechworldon it
The best reading I could get was about 25% on their dish, while mine had over 80%
I did try my very best to jiggle their sat dishes around but I never got enough bingo for them to have TV
I set my dish up in the following manner for the area I was in, about 100 Kilometres south of Carnarvon
Set the tripod to have the bubble centre
Fit the dish and LNB arm (LNB minus 10 degrees)
Fit Incline meter on LNB arm set to 36 degrees
Face dish in northerly direction then swing towards east (Meter box will lock on at about 10% signal strength)
Jiggle it a bit to anything over about 60% and bingo we have TV
Can you please detail exactly how you set up your dish
I did notice by reading their bookwork that for that particular area their LNB was supposed to be about 56 degrees, and that their measurements (on their adjuster) was supposed to be about 42 degrees. My incline meter on their LNB arm, showed around 12 degrees. As I am going from memory, their numbers may be slightly different

Hi Tony,
Here is a link to a page with a video that shows how to set up the Itechworld kit.....

Hi Tony,
Here is a link to a page with a video that shows how to set up the Itechworld kit.....
The way I see it I wouldnt be turning the LNB, I would just have a joiner to coneect the short test cable to the cable to the van.
I have the Satplus kit and the signal finder that they supply, and it works independently of the set top box and is very simple to use.

Hello Dickodownunder
Thank you for that information, it was appreciated.
I have the same SatKing meter as yourself, and it only picks up the C1 Satellite, and as you say it is independent of the set top box
I did pick up on setting the meter on five (halfway) and then after watching it go to ten, and then resetting it back to five to fine tune it some more. That was something which I did not know about
After watching the video, I am a little confused about the LNB settings
It does not mention the LNB setting which is in the reference page, along with the elevation angle and the azimuth angle for the nearest town At the end of the video it shows him turning the LNB to remove the cable, and then turning the LNB down again.
Another video I watched, the demonstrator does mention to set the LNB as per the reference page
I did try turning the LNB after I had got my highest reading on my SatKing box, but to no avail
My dish is around 800 millimetres, the iTechworld one is I would guess about 600 odd millimetres diameter.
We were not that far north, perhaps about 100 kilometres south of Carnarvon
This site indicates their standard systems have a 65 cm dish. That would account for the difference in signal.
Hello Peter D
Thank you for that information, it was appreciated
I have gone through your link to the site, and it does mention that their system will cover 95% of the land mass with their 65 cm dish. Their reference page shows the numbers for Geraldton and Carnarvon. I will therefore assume that they should have received a good signal.
My theory now, and I could be wrong, is that they should have a flat piece of aluminium plate underneath their base. When the base is being moved to fine tune the azimuth angle, if you go over a pebble it will throw it way out of wack
If I ever see anyone else setting their iTechworld sat dish up, I shall pretend that I am a sticky beak

I should have added this link to the post as well.....it may be helpful to some and is very easy to use.
I have an Itech World dish, ignore the elevation it could be +- about 4" on the slide (just acept it may not be correct out of the box and move beyond the elevation shown on your phone app, some for android and iphone are free.)
Get the dish pointing the right way with the elevation set roughly to the recommended for your area.
Now rotate the LNB plus or minus about 30 degrees of the stated value to get the best signal. (as the dish is not really circular, mine is real wobbly as its had a few bumps the calibration marks are again like the elevation marks .. experiment a bit.

Hello OutbackMK
Thank you for that information, it was appreciated Perhaps I should have been concentrating on the LNB, although I did move it, but perhaps not slow enough
For the second couple I tried to help, I placed their sat dish directly in front of mine I wanted to make sure that I was at least looking in the correct azimuth angle, with no hidden terrain restrictions in front of us. Their sat dish (after getting a signal using their elevation page, and markings) looked to be pointing downwards, compared to mine
With their dish looking around the same elevation as mine, there was no signal With their LNB arm at the exact same elevation as mine, there was no signal. This was to be expected as the angle of their LNB arm from their dish, was very much different than mine
I had no option but to rely on their reference page angles, and LNB settings Once again the best signal I could get was about 25%, while I had somewhere around 80% on mine
Sometimes I am a bit slow in coming forward, I now realise that at both camps, the sky was very overcast, and that I could not see the sun, although it did not affect our TV, otherwise the boss would have been onto me Perhaps it was just a combination of overcast sky, smaller dish, and everyones inexperience with that particular type of dish
I have not started this topic to say that mine is better than yours, etc.
I thought that perhaps someone with an iTechworld 65cm dish, may have picked up on any mistakes I may have been making
Looks like your the "go to person" to catch the footy with when people can't get a decent signal from their sat dishes. (probably get another lounge and get everyone on "GoogleBox")
I think most of the ITech dishes are oval with the perpendicular measurement longer than the horizontal, mine was about 10cm different so the LNB settings could be quite different.
The tester that came with my package has a small TV screen that you can view the picture and signal strength not just rely on lights as the some use so makes life easy.
It is the larger dish as well so may be a little different.
Cheers
Brian
